Yea see, those are the same ones I found previously. They aren't the BRZ version which I remember reading were superior.

There is no difference between thethe 797's they all sound the same. The letters after the 797 denote different form factors the BRZ is a IC OPAMP GP 110MHZ ULDIST 8SOIC
where the 797ar is a SMD form factor.

Is it worth waiting for the MkII version? I ask because a local eBay seller has some of the MKI available. They are selling for $AU825.00 which converts to around $US876. I am so tempted, although there is no way I can afford it at the moment, but you guys know how it is- everything is secondary to the music and the equipment it is played on. Looks like I may need to pimp myself and find a vacant corner.

I see. On Digikey, I saw the input offset was different between the AR and BRZ.

Are you certain they sound the same? If that's the case, maybe we can just use the ANZ DIP-8 and skip the hassle of Browndog adapters.

The Dip 8 is a single opamp Im sure they sound the same I have both, I have 797BRZ's in my D6 Ibasso sound the same

YOu will have to have two DIP 8 to dual adaptor that makes it real wide and may interfere with the capacitors on the minimax board.

I don't know if its worth it or not IMHO with the mods done to the minimax you can make any sound you like so the new DAC with dual power supplies won't make any audible difference once you mod it.. I personally am not buying the new DAC I am looking elsewhere and comparing because of the cost.

Same here....

The MiniMax was on my short list, I mean at the very top.  I would buy one right this second if it was available.

But I am really not interested at all in the new offering.

For $1K ~ $1100 I am forced to look elsewhere.

Yeah its a shame the Minimax was a great product for 750.00 but for 1100.00 the new Dac falls into a whole new category

I have a feeling that after ordering just about every other recommended opamp out there somebody is just waiting for me to mention that I just ordered the 797s to post that there is a new kid on the block.
Cimarron must be loving this thread.

I can tell you that I have ordered the 49990s that sound great, But I still love the set of 4 (2 dual and 2 single)  797's Op-Amps the best...... I don't plan on buying any other OP's! But I will say that the cost of these Op-Amps aren't really that much for what they pull out of a pretty inexpensive Dac to start with, the investment isn't that bad......I had one great advantage and that was my good friends have 2 Dac's that I love! One being the UDac (Headrooms top dog) and my other buddy has the Perfect Wave Dac, so I worked on getting my EE Mini to sound (with my Equipment) as close to each of their Dac's sound because that was the sound I was looking for!   It makes it so much easier if you can listen to other Dacs with their Op-amps or Chip to get a good ideal of what path you have to take to arrive at "Your Preferred Sound !  You'll be happy with the 797's

Yeah the 797's really sound nice. I also have the 49990s but they are a bit bright in my audio chain also depends on what tubes Im running in my amp. I like the 797's as they bring out sounds you never hear with other opamps.
