i dont have V2 but im super pleased with the Sakura upgrade cable from Rhapsodio which is on sale
for 75 from 235 and really made monsters out of my ASG 2.0s, brought out the bass like a
live club sound system in my head!

Thanks, but at a first glance I've read that Sakura is a bright and slightly vocal-forward cable, Velvet signature being already towards the bright side and the vocals - especially female - are sometimes quite forward, so I wonder if this will really be a good pairing.

Welcome!

I had the SM64 and still have the Velvet V1. The V1 is much more v-shaped with brighter treble and deeper, punchier bass. The SM64 is more forward in the mids and I think slightly better for vocals. Which is best for you will depend on your preferred sound and genre of music. There are other newer models too like the ES3, though I haven’t heard them. The Velvet are very fun IEMs, I love mine, though they are not the most versatile sound signature.

I prefer v-shaped due to only listening to hip pop, I am looking for great bass and highs and good sound stage , my brother has the sm64 it is a good earphone but I am looking for something that is world class so I was just wondering if velvet is the one

Hi,
Well I can vouch for the bass and highs, both are strengths of the Velvet (please note I have v1) and the soundstage has surprised a lot of users considering it’s an IEM. I think this would pair well with hip hop and your tastes.
Maybe wait for others to chime in as well, but I strongly recommend them for all kinds of electronic music.
As always YMMV

I listen to electronic music as well less so rock , but I was wondering how the clarity was to something like the sennheiser ie800 and phonaks pfe 232 which my brother had at one point sounded excellent but in both cases especially ie800 with the absurd cable and the phonak not having a company any more, I listen to a lot of guitar and vocal based music as well so does the earsonics velvet fit that type of music as well, I appreciate any views of the velvets because it is a fair bit of money and I want this to be my end game if I can

Well I’m afraid I have never heard either the 232’s or the 800’s, but I would say that the Velvets have a lovely natural midrange that sounds ‘correct’. I have just been listening to some funky orchestral piano, acoustic and Spanish guitar music and never once felt it needed anymore of anything.
It all depends though on whether you are a critical listener or somebody that just likes to kick back and enjoy their music. You could probably pick apart the Velvets if you are so inclined (just like 99% of all listening devices), but for pure enjoyment you would have to spend considerably more to get a notch or two above what they deliver.
Please do not take my word as gospel by any means though. I would hate for you to part with your hard earned and be one of the first to say you hated it. Though I doubt this would happen.
I’ll get off my soap box now and allow somebody else to comment........Anybody?

I own the V2 (the latest and only version available now at Earsonics).
I have not heard the V1 so I can't compare them but from what I've read, it seems that the V2 fixed some issues, like the thin and distant midrange/vocals. Also, V1 may have more sub-bass, V2 being more linear.

Anyway, I must say that I prefer the Velvet to the IE800 10 times from 10.
The Velvet sound is heavy, fuller and more impactful, compared to the IE800 thin sound.
The Velvet is more musical and has very clear and liquid mids, while the IE800 sound is dryer, with a recessed midrange.
Velvet has better transition from sub-bass to mid-bass, IE800 is lacking something in this area.
Also the clarity and resolution are slightly better on the Velvet.
The IE800 treble was not for me...too much boost there and quickly fatiguing.
The Velvet also has too much lower treble for me but with a bit of EQ is ok, I can listen for hours without any problem.

However, the IE800 sound is more natural and I enjoy the vocals more, they have a little bit more density and emotion.
Is not that the Velvet vocals are distant or not clear, on the contrary, female vocals can sound quite forward sometimes, is just that they lack the emotion and naturalness of the dinamic driver here.

But these are just my impressions, there are a lot of IE800 lovers which prefer them to other TOTL IEMs, exactly for the reasons that I don't like them.

yes the ie800 is a wonderful iem with great clarity and instrument separation but it is let down by simple things such as microphonics of the cable which was terrible and not being able to change tips which is very strange thats why my brother sold his a while ago currently it seems like I am very close to joining the velvet club at least by this year no less, lastly does the dial work well with different music and the last but not least question can the velvet be considered a end game iem or is there any other iem similar to consider my budget is less than 800 and as I described bass, clarity and just overall great sound is what I am looking for in an iem I just want to go wow

The Velvets are a wonderful set of earphones, for me I would consider them as my end-game iems. Another ones you should be looking at are the Fidue Sirius or the Audiofly AF1120. I think if you try to find them in several places, you can find them at 800USD. The Oriolus mkII are a bit out of scope in your budget but, at least, their reviews are worth a couple of readings.
