this is probably one of those silly questions, but it's been on my mind for ages so i thought i'd ask.
is it advisable to listen to music at home on your home stereo using earphones instead of full headphones? is it a bad idea to use earphones thru' a stereo receiver because they have such tiny speakers, or does that not matter at all?   
also would the SQ be much better using full size headphones compared to earphones?

I do it all the time with a couple old receivers I have. That's one of the ways I test how an earphone would sound amped since I don't have a headphone amp. Seems to work well enough *shrug*.
