I am new here as this is my first post. I am looking to buy some in-ear headphones (earbuds) for less than $100. I have a 2nd generation iPod touch and listen to mostly modern folk/alternative type music. I know I can spend months researching but thought instead I would come to the pros.

I will mainly use while going to the store or sitting round the house relaxing. Maybe while out walking 9 holes of golf... ect.

If you had $100 to spend on headphones for an iPod what would you buy and where would you buy it from? Thanks.

I did do a quick search, but technology changes very often. I did not know if there was new and or better stuff out there.

these (C751's ) are $55 on Amazon right now. FYI

OK I am looking t 3 different models now. a couple 'stupid' questions.

1.) what is ISOLATION and is -12 or -20 better?

2.) what does IEM mean?

3.) what is impedance at 1 khz mean, and is the higher number the better?

thanks

1) lower the better. generally deep insertion IEM can reach -26dBm

2) ...in ear monitoring...

3) impedance is the resistance of the IEM. lower resistance meant easier to drive on portable MP3 player. IEM generally have 10+ to 30+ Ohms impedance while headphone can reach 500+ Ohms. higher impedance requires amp to properly drive them

OK thank you that all sounds good and helps me make my decision. I will get those Denons listed above most likely. Will I need an AMP of some sort? If so what is a decent amp that most people start with?

THANK YOU SO FAR TOUGHNUT

Not necessarily... depends on what you want out of them.
Isolation means how much outside noise is blocked out.
If you want to block out the outside world, then more isolation ("lower", ie bigger number, they don't always put the "-" in front) is better.
But if you want them for riding your bike or something, where you need to hear what's going on around you (at least a little), then less isolation may be better.
