Is the rated output power for low gain or high gain? I assume high gain.

Output power: 200mW (16ohms); 28mW (300ohms)

It's a bit lower than E11 when set to high gain.

the rate output power is not decided by the low/high gain mode.

But for E11 they are stated as follows.

  1. Output power [High Power Mode]: 300mW (16ohms); 200mW (32ohms); 35mW (300ohms)
  2. Output power [Low Power Mode]: 120mW (16ohms); 88mW (32ohms); 13mW (300ohms)

Thanks for clarifying. Will E17 be like a portable version of E10?  Will E15 be like E10+E9?

E17 have more features than E10, includes Bass, Treble , Balance adjust, Coaxial and optical ( up to 192k/24ibt) , line input, and FiiO's dock, of course , both support 96k/24bit USB DAC,

E15 may support 192k/24bit USB decode and use different amp but not TPA6120A.

Wow the new E10 is so much better than the first batch.  The bass function I think they fixed with the second batch.  It also has an engravement difference as well.  It is more balanced now and doesn't switch everything to the left ear.  It's a much much better amp than the first batch.  Highly recommend it!

I think you had a dud.  Mine's from the first batch and the bass balance is fine.

I do like the way the bass boost is now marked on the new batch (on and off)

Just got one of these today, really impressed with it (using JVC HA-RX900 cans, which probably doesn't do it full justice). I do have one issue though that I can't see that's been posted. If I use any of the 24bit sample rates in windows I get very noticeable latency at the start of every "new" sound that plays, say like a windows beep or a steam message or anything really. However if I set it to 16bit everything is fine (once I unplug it and plug it back in). Just wondered if any one else has the same issue or it's a known thing? Or maybe it's normal for S/PDIF output? First time I've had a proper digital DAC/AMP. My machine isn't really slow or anything, I have a Phenom II X4 940, 6GB RAM and Vista x64 (that's the important stuff anyway).

Is latency like a pause before the stuff plays?  I'd say that's normal if using a digital connection like you are.  I just use mine connected to the computer which it was made for, but that's probably normal.  Did you get the first or second shipment batch from MP4nation.net?  I know the first batch had problems, well at least mine did.  It was fixed thankfully with the second batch.  But that is probably normal unless it's a really long pause, like 3-4 seconds.

The RX900 are probably awesome cans for their price.  I had the RX700 and they were pretty stunning considering their price.  The modded RX900 are probably much better.  If you'd like them modded, re-cabled, etc let me know.  I bet they'd sound even better.  But those cans don't really need juice, but definately benefit from the Wolfson chip on the E10.  Probably the bass boost is pretty nice as well.  Good luck!

Aye, it sounds real good anyway. When it's 24bit I get just half a second, if not less, of cut off, with short sounds it's really noticeable like OS sounds and such, it's no biggie though, 16bit at 96kHz is fine with me, I don't really have anything that's 24bit anyway. Just glad I've got some decent cans again (well, for the price!), when my HD650s died a while back it was terrible, I've had to use some really bad cheap £5 headphones for a while until now. :{

I actually got my E10 from Amazon UK, they had some in stock and I felt like it was time to upgrade those bad £5 headphones!

edit: Odd, seems it's now doing the same thing in 16bit too, oh well, I guess it's normal though for digital? I'll try and figure it out more tomorrow.
edit2: Never mind, seems using spdif keepalive works wonders, can now use any sample rate I like! Silly windows.

I think the lag is normal.  Mine does that.  Couldn't care less as I use the DAC for listening to music/movies and not OS sounds
