I already had the e-prototype and received the E-3D-1's just before christmas. Sound wise, they're the same to my ears. The cable is much better on the e-3d-1 as the wire appears to keep straighter even after being wrapped. Also, the tips provided are a big improvement for me. I couldn't use the silicon tips that came with the e-prototype as I couldn't get a good sound with them. These are a bit softer and I was able to get a good seal and position straight away. Initially, before receiving the e-3d-1's, I preferred the caps of the e-prototype but since getting the new pair I find the new caps are easier for insertion. I've already paid for a set of the S ears, so am looking forward to see the improvements they make over the 3d printed ones.
