Yeah, that's weird. The 0404 pci was regarded very highly but to my ears it always had a plastic quality. The usb is a lot better in that regard, no plastic quality. But I wouldn't qualify it as high-end, it's an ok mid-range product. It has great features though, I'll be needing those XLR's soon.
