I have an ok car audio system (I hesitate to say good on a forum like this where good may = $100k+).
I just recently got the ability to have line-in so I can use an mp3 player in the car.
The DX50 and FiiO X3 caught my eye for two reasons.
1. The price is where I need to be.
2. They each have LINE-OUT - which is what I would be using to connect to my system.
So the scenario in the car arena is a little different than most folks here who are pairing these devices with high end head phones.
Unfortunately most of my collection is in lossy MP3 format (although higher bit-rate at least).
I WOULD like to experiment with studio quality audio - and I saw that the DX50 has the ability to play this format (does the X3 as well?).
I have read so many different things on the players - to the X3 sounding good with Mp3/lower end stuff etc etc.
Some opinions would help me greatly - and if anyone has had the ability to use either of these players in their cars that would be nice to hear about.
One final thought - I DO like the idea of buttons compared to touch screen - because then I can change stuff WITHOUT looking at the player while driving - however I would get a touch screen unit if my listening experience would be greatly improved.
