DX340 iBasso developed Discret DAC, Easily replaceable batteries, Amp Modules! ***New firmware on 1st page. v1.04 local update. ***

I haven't been following this thread as I'm busy with visiting the shows and vacation time in Asia but I see there is a new firmware version update for the DX340. I won't update the DX340 or apply any new tweak settings until I'm back home on my PC in the US (I didn't bring my laptop with me).

Those of you describing a random intermittent hissing on either left or right channel when you play DSD or any FLAC tracks can try a few things,

1. Go to QFIL, follow @mattclarke18 guide to go to the Partitions Manager tool on the top settings, scroll to a partition named " frp " and the right click and select "Erase Entire Flash".
You would then get the latest or desired firmware firehose image file and then do a fresh flash into your DX340 (mattclarke18 has a guide on how to flash as well).

2. If you are experiencing the random intermittent hissing and you are playing music locally from your SD card, test to see if the problem is from your SD card (add the same track onto your local internal storage and then use your folders navigation app on Mango Player app or whatever music player app to test playback on that track). If you don't have that same hissing then the problem is your SD card. You will most likely need to reformat that SD card on the DX340 itself and then just recopy all the music onto the SD again (which sucks but whatever).

I myself and a few others have had this issue early on and have described that issue on this thread but since then I've fixed this issue by trying the two mentioned steps above. I do believe that there are issues in the software in some DX340 units that can trigger when you try to do OTA updates.

I've had more time listening with the latest firmware can can say that I don't notice any increased background noise compared to before applying the patch.
Additionally, I seem to be getting less Wifi interference then before (using Amp14). I need more time to confirm, however, I haven't really experienced any wifi interference (occasional crackling) while streaming using tidal since the patch.

When connecting the 340 to Desktop as USB-DAC and enabling charging, the charging percentage remains as connected, meaning that the DX340 gets enough just to keep it in the current level, that leads me thinking it is not good for the battery, what can I do to change that? tried few USB-C cables, A>C cables , still the same

Is there a line out on AMP14?

Yes there is a 2nd jack for line out. However you can only have LO or PO active. LO activates when you insert the plug so no need to change in settings.

That's good to know! And is it always in tube mode or I can switch to AB?

PS Moon-audio just sold the last MAP14 today :(

It’s tube or nothing. LO is the only mode that bypasses tube.

Just joined the dx340 club, despite enjoying the A&K SP3KT, the value was not there imho.

Went through this thread, but couldn’t understand if there is a significant benefit on having a faster SD card (sandisk extreme pro) vs a more standard one (Sandisk Ultra), would it be significantly faster, would we drain battery faster or slower, etc… I’m not considering that sound quality would be impacted at all, looking forward to hear your thoughts and experience

I would set my priority to make sure you are getting a genuine Sandisk/Samsung/Lexar card. As for read/write speed the facts are:
  • Read speed - audio files use significantly less bandwidth than even the slowest SD card.
  • Write speed - purely a cost/benefit decision if you think waiting longer for your files to transfer is unbearable.
Practically speaking, think about if you have any future needs for your SD cards you buy now. In my case, I use my older SD cards where my music collection has exceeded the capacity, for my GoPro and digital camera which does require high write speeds for 4K recording so I pay a little more for faster cards even though my DAP doesn't need.

Purely for DAP use, I think the priorities should be as follows:
  1. Reputable brand like Sandisk, Samsung, PNY, and Lexar from reputable retailers
  2. Decide how much capacity you need/want.
  3. From your equal options, purchase the card that has the lowest price per GB.

It seems like no one bothers to use the search function these days. There are 6 pages of search results with the term "sd" just within this thread: https://www.head-fi.org/search/66123699/?q=sd&t=post&c[thread]=974099&o=date

Thanks @bflat for such a clear reply, really appreciated!
