iBasso DX340 Debloating & Tweaking Guides

Hi all, version v5.0 is live. Please check the release notes for all changes and additional options.

Bit of background: as a follow up to this post, I spent some time testing different values for scaling_min_freq for the "big" CPU cluster. The optimal value seems to be 1401.6 MHz (significantly reduces number of so called "frequency transitions" during playback).

So, in this version I introduce a new option to get absolute maximum performance out of the DX340. Option pmax=1 (aka "Performance MAX") replaces the previous option noidle=1. In addition to disabling "Doze mode" (deviceidle), the minimum scaling frequency is increased from 1056.0 MHz to 1401.6 MHz. This may cause "Performance MAX" to have an impact on battery life (although results may vary).

Enjoy the improvements!

BTW Special thanks to @quaddac and @Whitigir for the many hours of testing!

Thanks for this. If I'm on 4.5, I'll just rerun the scripts to update?

Yes, you should re-run it to update (previous version just gets overwritten).

Hi Stouthart...thanks again for your work!! Only one question...the script under Advance Tweaking (V. 5.0) is curl -sS https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Stouthart/DX340/refs/heads/main/debloat.sh | pmax=1 sh. Shouldn't it be install.ch instead of debloat.sh?

Just read over 50 pages in one sitting. This thread is moving at an incredible pace!

Fyi, I've been gone for some months because I've been working on my big Yamaha YH-5000SE review. What a special headphone that is—the most chain sensitive headphone I've ever come across.

The DX340 has been getting a lot of listening time. A LOT. Long story short, I've been using it as a source with my Yamaha HA-L7A amplifier, and this combination completely blew me away. It's the only one that brought out the natural quality in the YH-5000SE. From what I've seen, people failed to extract that out of it even with €20k TOTL desktop DACs. Between the DX320MAX Ti and the DX340 as a source (Line Out), the DX340 has better positioning, significantly faster transient speed, better separation, and warmer but still analytical highs. These are my observations when using it with the HA-L7A and YH-5000SE. The DX320MAX Ti still has its own magic, so it's a matter of what flavor you're going for.

As someone in the thread already said, non-stop goosebumps! And I am still on old FW, no mods, no tweaks. The DX340 is next level, and it will be an entirely different league when iBasso releases the two remaining amp modules. Killer DAP with killer potential. Am really happy to see so many of you enjoying it, and also, we've never had this much community involvement in software tweaking!

A little earlier than expected: version v5.1 is live. Please check the release notes for all changes and additional options.

Short explanation: I was just notified of a possible compatibility issue with Apple Music by @Paul - iBasso. Found it (took a while, though) and fixed it.

Longer version: A few weeks ago I contacted iBasso about two files that load a "CPU scheduler statistics" service. This service causes a lot of background activity (not desired). These files were therefore nominated for removal in a future firmware update. In anticipation of the new update, I already removed them via the Advanced Tweaking script. Turns out: those files are needed by Apple Music, otherwise the app crashes multiple times on 1st run. In case you're wondering: the aforementioned statistics service is (actually already was) stopped by the script during runtime anyway.
