I’m seriously trying to decide between the DX340 and the SP3000T.

If anyone following this thread has advice for me in this decision, please share.

I realize they are very different devices and offer different sets of pros and cons.

Thank you!
Personally, I think that paying almost $2K extra for A&K doesn't make sense. Other extra payments are also unjustified (exceptions include buying new amp modules or replacing a dead battery in the future).

If you need a DAP that will really meet your needs in terms of sound and functions, the DX340 is the answer.

It does what it should at a level well above its price.

I've had it for almost 3 months and it still surprises me.

The announced 3 new amp modules will not let you get bored in the future. And you won't have to spend 2000, just much less.

These are serious arguments for yes.

I would rather spend the surplus on my dream iEM.

Have fun with this autoquiz, you will find many suggestions (I recommend this link to everyone, it's a really interesting, short and informative synthesis):

Has anyone tried this type of USB c to DC adapter?

https://a.co/d/dzi6kdP

I was thinking about buying one as the current adapter cable I have is way too long for a clean desktop connection to my power Bank.

It looks like there are 3 options that I don't understand the difference in

PD 12V to DC

12V PD to DC

12V to DC

Can anyone explain the difference in those 3 options?
I purchased a couple of adapters and cables from AliEx at ... a fraction of the price compared to Amazon.
I've measured every single one of them with a multimeter beforehand just to be on the safe side.

Direct cable from USB-C to DC -> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005823033696.html
Cable from USB-C to DC with adapter (not direct) -> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005191719459.html
Direct L shaped USB-C to DC adapter - exactly like the one you mentioned from Amazon -> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004780432951.html

Every single one of them works great. All of these are to be used in my case with external battery or at "worst" with a GaN power brick unless at my desk to make use of the LPSU via GX16 2 pin to DC -> https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005007986365305.html

Enjoy the shopping spree!

Also for EU DX340 owners, Audioheaven will be having the AMP16 in stock in 2 weeks...oh boy oh boy :L3000:

We price according to cost and an adequate profit margin so we can stay in business. We don't price to impress or to create the impression that you have to pay more to get more. Enjoy the music! :^)

Paul - is the DX340 sold out temporarily until more units are manufactured? Or what? Thank you.

@quaddac
To add to this list of arguments, I also plan to mostly use this as a desktop device using line out to my Tsuranagi V2 (or perhaps PO if it doesn’t sound like crap). I’m currently using my SP1000M, which I do still love, but it’s from 2018. I keep asking myself if a newer DAC will make a big difference.

@aaf evo is kindly going to help me answer this question before I make a purchase. Thanks again!

If the DX340 isn’t the answer, I’m thinking I could wait for the D17 release. Or try the D16 first. I’ve heard great things about the latter, and I’m excited to hear the former.

Yes, we manufacture units every day and have a line devoted to the DX340. More will be shipping out to distributors next week and will continue to be shipped.

Try not to fall into fear of missing out. Get a competent DAC and focus on amp and headphones. The differences are minimal unless you know exactly what flavour you are trying to perfect.
The key word here is ‘to perfect’. Most dacs are good.
The D16 is great bargain these days. It’s very similar to the 340, try focusing on the usage of both devices, not the sound. DAP vs portable dac/amp.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. I’m glad that I’ll have a chance to demo the DX340 before I decide what to purchase. I will also get to decide if a newer device, like the 340, actually makes a big difference vs the older SP1000M in my setup.

I don’t buy equipment very often, as evidenced by the fact that I’m still using my circa 2019 SP1000M (and my Chord Qutest from 2018 that I stole from my stereo setup and needs to go back).

I don’t necessarily need a portable DAP; rather, I need a small device to function as a DAC with my Tsu V2 for my desk. But if my chosen device ends up being a DAP, then so be it. I have options.

This is why I’m contemplating and trying to demo first. It really has distilled down to DX340 vs D16 vs awaiting D17 release.

I live in a portable audio desert 🌵 🐪 so I have to ask questions on here to help with my decision.
