Just speculating. It says it's in-house DAC and they developed and released one recently. I highly doubt they developed another one for this DAP. Some refinements are possible as it's FPGA.Source?

Should be just like recent ibasso productsLooks promising, mainly interested in if the battery is user replaceable. Mentions dual battery, but if it comes with two to swap out I'm all in.

2W @32 Ohm is the most powerful regular 3xxx Amp card so far, isn't it?

Ibasso has been using discrete super class A for a while with improvements for each generations. The best thing about it is that it is powerful, yet generating virtually ZERO heatYes I saw it just now. I hope it is r2r and class A.
The DAC has Analog R2R array
Definitely! But the 320 has amp module swappable. As the picture stated, stock 320 Amp11 is 1200mW where as this 340 has 2000mW. The upgraded swappable modules will be even more powerful2W @32 Ohm is the most powerful regular 3xxx Amp card so far, isn't it?

That's crazy thinking of even more powerful Amp cards.Definitely! But the 320 has amp module swappable. As the picture stated, stock 320 Amp11 is 1200mW where as this 340 has 2000mW. The upgraded swappable modules will be even more powerful
So that 2W card is like Amp11 of DX320 and trying to remember Amp12 used to be more powerful, right?
Amp13 and 14 were the tube ones but less powerful?
Trying to imagine if iBasso will try to squeeze some PB5 into DX340 Max

What is your personal opinion: do you think you might like the 340 better than the 320Max considering the 300Max vs 320? Of course we are in the realm of the hypothetical.Definitely! I'm wondering whether the DX320Max is still "worth" it when the DX340 is around the corner.
Does that mean even more bulkier and heavier compared to Dx320 which is already a tower ?That's crazy thinking of even more powerful Amp cards.

Let's just say, both of them cater toward different practicality points. If I could afford them all, I would LOL!What is your personal opinion: do you think you might like the 340 better than the 320Max considering the 300Max vs 320? Of course we are in the realm of the hypothetical.

But given choices, I would say 320M is a great buy and 340-340M may have a very very different signatures.
However, given Ibasso history, I would say that Ibasso strive to improve further and further on both 340 and 340M. Technically from engineering standpoint, they should be better

But realistically speaking, we may just have different cats, and whichever cat you choose, it would be your very own desires.
One thing for sure, flagship from Ibasso will never disappoint

Actually I became more tolerant with my big stack nowadays but of course DX180 is dissappearing in comparison and I am honestly yet surprised how well that one can yet power headphones and hard to drive IEMs like Annihilator
What has given me some thoughts were the precise descriptions of Vince regarding how the analogue weighted sound of D16 will be created starting with the discrete components, 1 Bit self developed FGPA and a dedicated filter.
Having spent some time with HQPLAYER in the desktop world I have experienced filters making significant differences to sound.
Am wondering how much that filter will play a role and if Ibasso will offer more filter choices in future for more sound variations.
I nowadays prefer D16 to DC Elite and Hugo2 in like 66% of cases but would say (that has also been stated by some other Watercooler fellows) D16 is a tad "soft" sounding in direct comparison to other DAPs including the mentioned ROHM DAPs and Hugo2.
Would be cool to have more tweaking options with the DAC part besides the swappable Amp cards.
Thinking back of the older DX3X line I found the filters made not much difference honestly, on DX180 on the other hand I am hearing significant differences between D5 NOS and the other filters

Soft sounding? What source are you using? Having compared to the Hugo and some other desktop dacs, to me, it is no way soft sounding but it is more realistic, to my ears. And piano, a real teller of impact and dynamics, it leaves the other in the dust. Am not saying anyone is sounding better or worse just characteristics and I think many will agree that Hugo2 is like the epidome of precise and relatively harder sounding than many DAPs.Soft sounding? I am seeing DC Elite in a similar way and just giving some personal listening impressions.
That's why I said it's all a matter of synergy and preference.
I know people who rarely listen to music with piano at all

The thing about hearing a piano, can really tell you about rise time and impact/dynamics. The D16 has the most realistic piano strike I have heard.Am not saying anyone is sounding better or worse just characteristics and I think many will agree that Hugo2 is like the epidome of precise and relatively harder sounding than many DAPs.

Pretty excited for this. I've been using a DX300 and I think it's time for an upgrade lol.
Just wondered on battery life cus of small size. Android drains so much power even in idle use
