Thanks to @jamato8 and @Whitigir for shedding some light on the subject, there are always many factors and sometimes the new does not have to be better than the old, just different.

It is also evident that the costs today have skyrocketed and multiplied compared to several years ago, so it is not a reliable measure either, however I fully trust ibasso and the implementation made with the JAN6418 vacuum tubes :)

Soundwise I believe Ibasso can deliver, my only concern is the heat and also interference.

Can I modify a Aroma Audio PS100Pro to use on DX340 for real portable ultimate endgame?!
A battery PSU is different than an AC PSU. The battery is basically isnt a true linear supply. The voltage will drop, where the true LPSU doesnt have the problem.

If I was to take it on a portable trip. That will be a good call. But if i was to squeeze bit and bites out of dx340. I will be using AC LPSU

3,5 x 1,35 mm

Just wondering what is your opinion on LPSU, I found a LPSU with dual voltage outputs. Will this be inferior to single voltage ones? Are we able to power DX340 solely on psu only and bypass battery?

I recently got the DX340, and as expected, it sounds amazing.

However, I do have a minor complaint about the case. It’s too tight and I had a hard time sliding the player in. Also, with the sharp edges at the top of the player, I’m curious why iBasso designed the case with an open top instead of providing full protection for those edges.

I must say that despite the construction being excellent, I agree with you re: the case not protecting the unit adequately.

Also, the construction and finishing quality is excellent (on par with high end HiBy) but not even close to AK top DAPs like the AK3k

For those in Singapore who have no idea what a LPSU is (like me). Found this seller on Carousell that is very responsive.

Link here.

Charging icon when disconnetter…
When connected to a charger (tried multiple different chargers and cables) it charges on and off….

Any idea?

The Dx340 and similarly to any device that uses Barrel style connector are "Single Rail supply". Unlike "Dual Rail supplies", which usually come in XLR or Mini XLR connector from end to end

The Dx340 was confirmed by @Paul - iBasso that will Bypass Amplifier battery and using DC supply under "Super Gain features". The DAC section of the Dx340 will still be using it own battery pack as a source.

Can you solely operate with just PSU ? No, you will need to charge or have charged the DAC battery. The Dx340 has separated DAC battery and Amp battery. Only Amp can be powered by PSU under super gain desktop feature

If Dual voltage means you can select either or, then I would say it doesnt matter. It usually is selecting and additional resistors or bypassing the resistor. But as picky as I am, I will opt for dedicated Single voltage supplies. The less useless parts = the better the purity

Notes from my comparison of the Amp15 and PB5.

IMG_9083.jpeg

Equipment: iBasso DX340, Amp15, PB5, SilverWidow V3 Interconnect. SilverWidow V3 Cable, 64 Audio U18T

Filter: H5
DAC: H
Amp: H

The notes are heavier, the bass is tighter, a slight added warmth. The notes have more authority and separation is cleaner. The way lingering vocals fade away has got an atmospheric feel to it. Added dynamism. Most obvious in bass heavy tracks.

No stage expansion. Male vocals are emphasised, and sound closer.

Nutshell. There is a difference. The PB5 adds more authority to the bass and lower-mids, more dynamics, heavier notes. That added warmth makes it sound even more organic. You note decay adds a layer of atmosphere to the music. An odd thing to say. Everything sounds more natural on the PB5 as opposed to just the Amp15.
