Ugh… it’s not all roses right now.

I was listening with the Fir Rn6 today with the AMP16 on full tube mode… after a short minute or two of listening, it starts to develop a feint high pitch ringing that I hear in the right channel. I can make it go away by going back to AB mode. If I switch back to Tube mode it’s not immediately present, but then I start playing a song for another minute and it comes back. It’s not loud, but it’s definitely there. Switching from low, to medium, or to high gain mode only intensifies the ringing, too.

Any thoughts?

I hope its not the same firmware issue that plagued some users (including me). I eventaully fixed it by deleting frp flash and reflashing the latest firmware firehose image with QFIL. Not saying that you should go ahead and do that but it does sound similar to the problems I had with AMP15. There was random moderate hissing that was intermittent.

The more I listen to DX340/Amp14 with my Tago Studio T03-HST, it's my type of sound...really like it very much!!! 💝

Thanks to you actually, I actually have doubts to buy or not to or wait for Amp16.
I trust your taste and just bought Amp14 without even trying it since it's the last pcs left.
I enjoyed it a lot really, in fact it's the best sound I heard so far from a DAP! 👍

I received Amp 16 yesterday and listened for a bit. The tube mode definitely shrinks the soundstage and clarity imo. Didn’t really care for it. The AB mode was pretty good. I swapped back amp 15 and prefer it. It seems to have a little more clarity and soundstage. Amp 16 has a little more lower end but other than that I prefer 15. I may be in the minority when people get theirs but right now that’s my initial impression.

Amp 16 Crosstalk is 120Db as listed

Amp15 as stock listed 140Db

That 20Db is pretty significant 😇

But 1 has tubey goodness and another one doesnt. Together with different signature as amp modules always do

At least the specs tell the same story of what you are hearing

Try to burn in the AMP16 a little more.
Or perhaps you need a brain burn in of AMP16 to appreciate the sound signature more?

That’s sounds like my expectations. Singapore will get Amp16 next week. Curious if I imagined it correctly.

Try debloating with optimizer then. The reasons I recommend that is because the optimizer will help

1/ lightening the loads on the entire system OS

2/ saving batteries

3/ More efficient Task Assigned toward the most efficient cores of processings

The Dx340 is a simple but yet Very complex machine. It needs and have to control the interfaces between amp modules which has differences within itself

The amp16 has No Line Out and also Always utilizing Zero Digital Attenuations , which means DAC is always at 100 which You Do not see, but you will see the volume displayed accordingly because JRC analog attnlenuations. Complex isnt it ? Read it again, please

That is why, if the system loads up with a bit of confusions or errors during boots, even if your amp module isnt sitting right, will cause white noises 😅. Under such circumstances, just Reboot

It used to happen to me on Amp15, until I debloated, optimized, Maxing out PMode Max tuning, and it was gone...poof...disappeared.

But back when, I just turned off, remove module, insert again, and there it went on, all Roses and no Violet

I am going to try to take it out and reseat it later today. However, the noise seems to scale with volume, which is really really unfortunate. Gain makes it louder. Volume knob makes it increase and decrease, too.

It’s not a hissing really, it’s like a constant ringing at a specific frequency. It’s not tube chime either. It’s just like a ringing that sounds like Tinnitus. Going from tube to A/B completely eliminates it, but going back to tube it’s back pretty quickly.

I will. I also think that dac high gain does “color” the sound a bit. It does add some excitement but maybe I’d be better off on low dac gain. I do find at times high dac gain can get fatiguing with certain albums.

Just updating:

Reseating the AMP16 card did not help. Problem still persists…

Kind of a bummer. Confirmed that it is JUST with the tube mode. Switching to AB immediately makes the ringing go away. Switching back from AB mode to the tube mode and starting music again brings the ringing back right away.

Sounds like the same issues with the nunchaku dongle, some that demoed the dongle claims this annoying ping that is whenever the tubes are in use. Interesting .

Sounds like you got a bad set of tubes...get it replaced.

Did you restart/reboot the player together with it ?

Tubes needs to be realized and commanded by the main unit Dx340 to distribute voltages to the filaments. Sometimes if it doesnt do it correctly, it may cause noises ? Just a thought.

If all else failed, it would be best to contact your dealer and or Paul/Ibasso
