Also remember: people’s perception of bass is personal. What one might find a lot, is not enough for someone else.
Outside of brain auditory sensation differences, ear canal shape also plays an important part in why this differs for everyone.
https://audioxpress.com/article/unv...r-canal-geometry-for-in-ear-headphone-testing

Also iem measurement chart comparisons are also kind of fundamentally flawed as it's hard to reproduce the exact same ear canal seal conditions on repeated tests of same iem or different iems.

The actual precise shape of the ear canal, both for an ear simulator as well as for a human ear canal, is of minor influence, if the volumes and lengths are well defined. A further complicating factor in the low-frequency response is the influence of leaks between the DUT and the ear canal surface. With complicated ear canal geometry, it becomes difficult to achieve the same leak from test to test and therefore difficult to evaluate effects of design changes or modifications.

in your opinion which dap produces best bass?
Rs8 and r8ii render bass in a very different way, but excellent, never bloated, never exaggerated.

Even the sp3k, which is certainly not a bass bomb, renders bass much more than the dx340.

I have had SP3K, and just like you, I tried to love it, but it didnt and couldnt satisfy me VS Ibasso Dx300 and DX300Max. The DX340 is ways beyond

Sonic performances is a personal preferences things. I have found mine, you just need to find your. What is best for me, should not be the best for you, and I am glad to see that being confirmed. Certaintly, I dont want people to keep eyesballing my wife 🤣

My DX340 developed a buzzing noise in supergain mode using the default plug and the same plug point I have. When I touch the body the buzz goes away, it comes back when I let go. Any help?

Give it a try using a power socket in the wall? (so not plugged into a multi socket)?

I plugged straight to the wall, still buzzing.
I tried again after a break and now the buzzing is gone, weird. (through a multi-socket now)

Are you living in apartment with many neighbours? It could be ac electrical noise from elsewhere.

I work outstation right now and live in my work hostel with housemates. Maybe that could be a reason.

If this buzzing happens again I'm considering a LPS or a battery powered supply. 😤

I wish you would have posted this a week ago... since my DX340 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I've seen some opinions that it's quite bass shy. But then others say it really isn't. Even Twister6 never really mentions anything about it lacking in low end in his review... and I tend to put quite a bit of trust in his opinions and reviews.

I prefer plenty of low end, so I was a little skeptical of the DX340 at first due to some of those early "bass shy" opinions. But the screen and battery improvements, the new Amp16 tube amp availability, and Twister6's review convinced me to give it a go.

Now your comment/opinion has me a little worried again.
You will disappointed in the amp 15 that comes with the 340 if you prefer heavy bass. You can eq it and it sounds great it’s a very detailed amp. It will not be a plug and play using the built in player. You will want neuron or power amp. If you stream, there is a solution for eq for that but I cant remember what it’s called. The factory eq in mango is not system wide. You will definitely want to get the amp 16 if you want a plug and play. In saying this I tend to lean more towards heavy bass and boosted treble. All of this is very subjective, listen devices make a big difference. I use the performer 8s and their very bass light to begin with. Just based on your comment you will want to do some tuning via eq. You will not however be disappointed with the player overall.

Yes, I was thinking about 7th anniversary edition too. Thanks for fast response.
BTW how do you like them paired with dx340? :)
If you prefer a neutral sound, no exaggerated bass, no shouty highs, no super V-shaped curve... then they are very good, especially with the DX340. I have had a handful of IEMs, including 4K pairs, all of which I sold (or returned). But the Hisenior Mega5-EST 7th Anniversary Edition remains.
