DX340 iBasso developed Discret DAC, Easily replaceable batteries, Amp Modules! ***New firmware on 1st page. v1.03 local update. AMP16 NOS Tube amp. Review on the 1st page! 4/6/25
I'll admit, the case is a bit darker than I thought it would be. But it works to my advantage since it now looks like a I'm holding a solid dark cherry wood brick!
This matched with the stainless steel crown of the DX340 makes for a unique look.
The best thing about these leathers is that they will develop character the more they get scuffed up
If you want something that is just as good as or even better than Dignis quality for iBasso DAPs, Jutem is it!
@DingDongMonster First thank you for your impression if the AMP12EXN-S OPA1655. I have the same amp form Steve on my DX320 at the moment.
My question is what is your impression of the DX320 vs the DX340 using this card?
Just a quick feeling of the differences, if you can remember, would be very helpful! I'm still on the fence as I'm still enjoying the DX320 with the EE Odyssey IEM.
Not a competition. Not even on the same planet. The ROHM chips don’t have the technical abilities of the 1 bit dacs. Now that the dac is top shelf. The old amp cards are operating on another level. The AMP12EXN-S and D16 (modded) are the highest performing at this moment.
The only downside of the Amp12 is noise. It’s there for more sensitive IEMs and will need some kind of resistor to get rid of. However, that might take away some top end if it’s too aggressive. I’ve ordered a bunch to experiment with. I will also check around if it’s possible to mod the amp card itself to get rid of the noise.
I just heard the Odin again 2 days back. But I’ve never used the Odyssey. I have the Triton and just ordered a Novus. Let’s just say, if the EE IEM can layer. It’s mind blowing on the AMP12EXN-S. Nuances that did not exist before will be coaxed out.
Nutshell. The 320 need mod cards to go from mediocre to good. But on the 340. Those same cards are amazing.
You should explore the Amp14 too. Bigger bass, bigger stage. Sweeter mids. The bass is less controlled than the Amp12EXN-S. While the resolution is coming through. Overall it’s a step down from the AMP12EXN-S. You do get a darker background. Overall a good implementation of Nutubes. Might pair with your Odyssey.

And OH what a frequency response curve this is!
I use the IBasso Audio DC Elite for my measurements as I have yet to find a cleaner and uncolored source for this.
And on first listen off of the DX340 this set right out the box I can tell you it's incredibly balanced and extended perfectly on both end with bass that extended low and very well controlled and textured!

Great track to showcase this IEM
OMG that bass drop down into the sub bass is simply sublime! So deep so controlled and textured.
Mids and vocals So effortless and uncolored.
Treble is beautifully done very detailed & perfectly balanced and in line with the entire tuning.
Stage is amazingly 3D without pulling you away from the music and center stage.
No burn in on this set so I am expecting the sub bass to get even lower exciting times ahead!.

Huge shout out to both iBasso and Bloom Audio. As you know I was one of the few that had the noise issue. I worked with Paul quietly trying to trouble shoot and fix it but we decided it was a hardware problem that couldn't be fixed. I was given an RMA to Send it back to China but checked with Bloom (where the unit was originally purchased} and I got an RMA in an hour and after a couple days of testing, they got a new unit out to me today. Stellar service and commitment by both manufacturer and retailer.
I feel that Ibasso DX340 with Amp14 is very similar sounding to D16/PB5 combos in a truly portable form factor. I'm really pleased that I can have such high level of sound quality with just a DAP.
I think only Ibasso DX340Max can beat this

How's the battery life on y'alls DX340? Mine's burning through more than 15% per hour on high DAC gain and mid AMP gain running MangoOS with minimal screen time.
It is quite disappointing for me... Or are my expectations too high?

If so, drain the battery to 0. Fully charged to 100% before powering on. Run through a few of these cycles to calibrate the battery. This helped a lot for me.
What headphones/IEMs are you running and at what volume? If they are super power hungry that could explain it.
Running the DC In super gain mode will also preserve battery life somewhat.
I would recommend @Stouthart's tweaking guide but if you are only running MangoOS I don't believe this will have any impact.
Also lastly once the batteries are calibrated, if you still aren't satisfied, just keep it hooked to a power bank or other power source. Since the batteries are replaceable there is no harm in running the batteries suboptimal IMHO.
