After all there are still fans of the infamous Tera-Player.
Actually just plugged the Monarch MK2 in a Woody and boy, what was I thinking?😅

Tera-Player is alive
Oh yes it is…😍

Will be selling all other headfi when returning home in 2 weeks and invest in buying more CD’s to convert myself.🙂

Thanks for having me in this educational thread, your experienced input in this wonderful hobby of ours and wish everyone lot’s of musical fun.🙏

Don't forget (a little known option) as long as you aren't looking for contemporary stuff, you can actually check out CDs from your local library (at least in the US you can).

While it is nice to have some general conversation, I keep coming to the threading thinking there will be more discussion on the DX320 but about 80% or more lately is everything but that.

Lately I have been using the DX170 and the DX320, going back and forth when out and about. They are different but both, IMO, offer great musicality, which is what I am after.

Honestly, as of late, I found that the upper mid tier products is not too far off from flagship. But the pricing is a lot cheaper. Just a few years back, the gap were not even remotely close

I would agree. The trickle down of technology and experience. I am amazed by the DX170 and the line out is excellent. People are able to get truly top tier sound for a bargain now.

Thats very true. As i mentioned before, i was quite surprised with the M11 Plus performance. Imho with a very good iems/headphones, the results would surprise many people. Maybe it lacked a bit of layering but the tuning was really good and even the timbre was nice, even tho it uses ESS dacs. Quite organic sound, good dynamics and staging.
Also the form factor and ui were very good.
Im curious how the dx240 sounds. Im not a dry and reference type of tuning fan but i remember that the dx220 with stock amp really impressed me back then.

So, I kinda agree with IFI that being a DAC/Amp, it isn’t competing against a DAP. It is out there for it own section of the market. I had tried IFI before and Sony Pha-3, but back then was when DAP having a hard time pumping out 120mW into 300 ohm load. Nowadays, there is a big different

Yup, that's true, DAPs have gone a long way since early Cowons and iMods.

Let's not forget that Ifi advertises and promotes their devices go good with cell phones.

We do indeed, our DAC/amp products need transports after all

ifi dap when?

We've been asked about that a lot recently, but DAPs aren't our thing, so there are no plans for one at this time. We never say never, so maybe at some point in the future we'll release something along those lines, who knows :)

Over the years I realized that the most expensive development for DAP is it OS and firmware, which is very expensive and lingering on and on as the updates will have to be rolled out soon as possible. This is why I value Ibasso so much, as they invested in both firmware and hardware all alike, especially MangoOS.

I don't know about others, but to me, once I have heard the differences from the dedicated OS such as WalkmanOS and MangoOS, there is really no going back to android basedOS
