Thank you. Found it. Too much Shandling. Not enough Ibasso. Thought I needed the leather case, but included one is decent. Sitting here listening to Damian Rice through Sennheiser IE600s. Nice. I will use them for break in since break-in plug became useless when I installed Amp 8 Mk2.
Bass kicked in today. Maybe too much bass now, but only a bit too much for this old basshead. Sound is becoming warm to some extent.I do not usually listen to gear that is breaking in. Both yesterday and today I have listened to the DX 240 for more than an hour.
How do you think amp8 is worth buying at 90 dollars /euros and not mk2 for dx240 at double price? From what i have read mk2 has some miner changes but not much info to decide amp8 vs mk2. Thanks
Loved Amp 8 on my DX 220, but sold it and Amp 9 along with the DX 220. Then bought DX 240 and the Mk2 since it was such a good amp. I bought Amp 8 and 9 for my DX 220, but Amp 8 was so good, I never even opened Amp 9. Unless Ibasso comes out with something very new and good, I will just use Mk2.
It took a few weeks, but I finally got a 3rd party case for the 240 from eBay (China). It costs $50 instead of $100 for the OEM. It's a little rough around a few edges, but still very nice overall. And the great thing is that you can customize the case in hundreds of ways. There's like 20 exterior materials, and 20 interior materials to choose from. And you're allowed to engrave a few letters for free. I included a bunch of pics to show the DAP in comparison to the included plastic case.

If make choice between dx248ex and dx228ex, dx228ex sounds much better.
dx240 is a very good gadget after dx150 or dx160. I think ibasso created dx170, but name dx240 sells better)

Thanks, 8ex in unavailable long time sadly. Why ibasso can't greate something similar sounding i don't know. I personaly use original 8 not mk2 as i think mk2 not better than 8. But ofcourse ex should be the best. What do you prefered as "better" with 220 compared to 240 ? Have you heard dx320? Interesting how it is compared to 228ex.

Yeah 320 a little too big, only i liked it with amp13 so much when heard but still for portable use its not a choise. Have you heard m11 plus? As i havent heard m15 but always thoght it should be too basy and warm for me.

How did you feel about amp1mk3? You need to try the amp8ex in the DX240 before you disparage the DAP itself. Should be easy enough since you have both and can swap covers.
Not that it really matters. We all have the sigs we prefer over others with certain transducers that may also favor one over another. You're certainly entitled to your own preferences.

I actually agree with this. 228ex is my favorite sound. Unfortunately - battery life, OS sluggishness, and poor(er) wifi reception make it overall inferior to the DX248mk2, which I use most of the time.
I wish I could get that 228ex sound in the DX240. Putting the amp8ex in the 240 is very good, but not as good as 228ex. All IMO, of course.
Are you guys changing filter and gain settings, trying different players and play modes. Android Mango, Hiby player etc. I can't imagine not being able to voice this as desired and it's got the resolution.
