Specs of the built-in AMP1 MK3 vs AMP 8 when using Balanced Outputs

I believe that was the "calculated" power output of the amp 8 module based on the voltage into an assumed 32 ohm load (Ibasso never actually stated the load). Since that time Ibasso has been more forthcoming by stating output power as mW into specific load. I think that 878 mW is closer to the actual power for amp8 as well as amp 1MKIII/MKII.

Yes, the Amp8 is more powerful than the Amp1. And on this upgraded optional amp module comparison, the Amp12 on the Dx300 is even more powerful. Amp8 is 6.3Vrms and Amp12 is 8.3Vrms, and that is a huge output differences. Many players are still struggling to put out that clean and powerful 2V differences LOL!

don’t forget the Amp12 LO has a Dynamic Range of 128Db, which is beyond many other DAPs....even beyond DX300Max which is 125Db….the crosstalk is better in Dx300Max still

People, please, don’t look down on Dx312. It is clearly a higher end than Dx240

True but the stock amp is excellent and then there are amps 1-8 that can be used, and that encompasses 2 amps with 4.4 and the plates for them are easy to get. Oh joy. lol

Listening to The Beatles Let it Be "Naked" (all the junk stripped away).

Haha, me too rocking to the naked album!

Today finally I had a chance to listen DX240 amp1mk3 with my headphones. 3.5 mm Focal Clear and Sennheiser HD650 - not really a good match for me, my DX160 had better synergy with these two headphones by sound signature personally. Audeze-X 2.5mm had better synergy with DX240 with more details, depth, better dynamics and more engaging sound compared to DX160. Overall sound was not something Wow or on a different level for me. It was maybe about 30% better overall than DX160 for me personally, but not a mirracle for sure. Power level output was absolutely the same as DX160, on a high gain comfort level was about 70-80% volume with HD650 via 3.5mm, and 45-55% volume on Audeze LCD-X via 2.5mm. IMO the price 900€ is too high, maybe 700-800€ would be a right spot for such device. Now need to listen Dx300 to compare and choose the right one to purchase... :)
ok to be fair, I don't think your analysis is accurate. Are you comparing from memory when you say this had better dynamics and that sounded better? also, 4.4 usually has better dynamics vs 3.5 output due to more power, etc. you'd need to compare them side by side, using the same IEM's, headphones, Match output, compare 3.5 vs 4.4.

The reason I say this is a lot of people on here go off what we say and end up spending real hard-earned money. So our comparisons must be carefully curated for our fellow audiophiles vs justifying our own biases of why we want or don't want to buy this or that DAP. I had the DX160 and as good as it is for the money, it's not comparable to the DX240 since you have multiple AMP choices and thus various sound Variations and stock Mango OS (Linux Based like the older Sony DAPs) which I find to give the purest form of sound.

Haha, I don't think anyone is looking down on it. We just want a portable solution that sounds as good as the DX300 variations. I love being on a flight while enjoying excellent sound. Even turbulence doesn't bother me while my Music is playing. :xf_cool:

I hope it was burned in (around 200 hours) as to me, it is absolutely excellent. Very musical and makes the SR2 and the Utopia sing.

I have compared both players from the same 3.5mm and 4.4/2.5 outputs as well...as i mentioned, there was about 25-30% overall increase in sound quality IMO, but not a huge upgrade in terms of sound for me...power output was absolutely the same in both players, no increase in terms of power ouput...I can tell what was the most noticable for me: better dynamics, more details, better separation, better depth but not the width. Even more, I could tell that the sound of 240 was a little more on artificial side. From my honest experience I did not notice a huge difference in overall sound quality, maybe it need more burn in, cause it was new demo unit which just arrived to my local audio store. That was just my experience with my headphones, so yours may be different.

Was that with the stock AMP?

Also both DAPS would need 200+ hours burn in to reach full harmonic potential.

If the DX300 had 200+ hours already on it and the DX240 was new, its not really a fair comparison.

Either way, if the DX300 suits you better go for it. Its a wonderful DAP that performs extremely well.

DX312 for SQ, back up time, let ur full size cans "Sing", w/o even trying hard. Cons: semi-portable, heavy, large
DX248 for true portability, fits the shirt pocket. SQ diff. is not that far. Cons; less back up time...

It's a great dap, it would be nice if it was in the 700 to 800 dollar range, but those are the breaks. 😞
I've got about 80 hours on mine and it sounds very refined and natural. Different from dx220 in a good way to my ears. A touch more vivid or organic or musical - pick your term. But still towards neutral. Very nice positioning of instruments and depth of field, ibasso knows how to build an amp 😉

I especially like the green color. Was trying to find a pick that did the color justice but don't really have one.
