Quite a bulky box in 2019 compared with campfire or JH... Just their normal style for flagships though...

IMG_20190903_165137.jpg ummmm... It just started with the driver displaced in packaging, guess I never know why(sigh).
They implemented that "wire quick change" system to every high tier IEM they will have further on. A similar design on dita's awesome plug, the difference was DITA was using design like screws, while DUNU used some elastic metal slip in the plug, make it faster to change the termination from 3.5 to mainstream balanced connector.

Interesting case. Is the IEM similar to the 4001?

Looks similar, but instead of 4ba 1dd hybrid with their flagship cable, they got slightly lower grade cable, as DUNU said the "Jade" cable was having less conductors and isolators compared to 4001, and single DD beryllium driver. I bought this since my positive experience with their falcon-C IEM.

They consider this as an alternative flagship parallel with dk4001 though.

On the acoustic side, the 4001 was much brighter and aggressive while this 17th has much more "dynamic" sound signature, warmer bass, a recessed but harmonic rich high, feels less intensed, a little bit less information compared to its mass produced hybrid counterpart.

How is the bass quantity compared to the 4001? They mentioned the driver is thicker/stiffer compared to the one in the 4001, so it's going to be a little more difficult to drive?

Defintiely seems like it's less fatiguing than the 4001, which is good, especially if I want to use it indoors.

We are very glad and honored you got the 17th Anniversary Limited Edition model! We're very sorry about the faulty packaging quality; they are usually very secure in their foam cutouts! Please let us know if there's anything wrong, and we will be happy to make any repairs. Luckily it seems like it is fine. Otherwise, it is very difficult for us to make because of the shells, so fortunately you got to experience it in time.

Had anybody compare with dunu falcon C?
Impression below are based on memory, sold falconC at beginning of the year.

less "sizzzz" sound around 8k, much larger soundstage, the bass was has dynamic but much more detailed response and bouncy finish, while surprisingly, FALCON C has a similar resolution compared to this(quite amazing amount of information in 200$price range). One of the biggest problem for falcon is the never ending sizz sound even with bass tuning eartip, 17th has a much smoother(even though still spiky sometimes)response on 4-8k, makes 17th much brighter while still warm.

depend on my budget or whether they will be on canjam NYC...spent all my remaining budget this year on desktop gears.

We will be at CanJam NYC! You're very welcome to come and take a listen in February. You wouldn't happen to also be traveling to Shanghai next next weekend would you? The LUNA will be available for audition there. We're still readying our announcement material here on Head-Fi, but it'll come out either 10/31 or 11/1.
