All I can say is I have the AKG 702s that are suppost to be better but aren't. I really think you have to go way up in price to get better sound. Start with the Sennheiser 650s and go from there. Usually when folks really like a headphone brand, they can go up that brand's line and find something they like better. Try the Beyer T7s or T90s. If bass is your thing, the Custom One Pros offer a slideing switch that controls a port that allows you to change the sound signature on the low end. You also might consider the Denon 6000 or 7000
I'd suggest auditioning several different headphones, learning a little more about what you like and dislike.
There are definitely technically better headphones, but it's more about what sounds good to you.
