Is there a real difference between generic and original pads? I need to replace mine and I saw the generic ones on amazon for cheap (https://www.amazon.it/VORCOOL-Coppia-Cuscinetti-SteelSeries-Beyerdynamic/dp/B01AR7S5DE)

they're even cheaper on ebay atm

Yes there is a difference, I have not tried those in particular but I would stick to genuine Beyer pads. Consider how long you will use them, the price is justified. I find the velour is more plush, among other things. Anything but originals will alter the sound properties also.

I am using a Little Dot MK II with various tubes Voshkod, Tung-Sol and Mullard (depending on mood) and it drives my headphones very well indeed

Hi guy's,

I almost read all the 3d and I own an dt990 that have around 60hours playing on the back. But I don't really hear the same quality that some of you here says. I don't know actually if is me, my cans my soundcard or something else. That's why, I really need as many feedback's as you can give me. My setup is this : Alienware 18 usb gold plated cable (amazon basics) to my soundcard Asus xonar essence Stu( but i have home also the essence one muses ed) connected via 3.5mm jack to my O2 portable edition gain standard. I'm no audiophile i just listen to music which i love to do it in the best way. My music sound very different with this cans which I admit I didn't expect. All the bass side it's all against my face and all the rest mids highs whatever is much more in the backside. Then is still something that really annoys, in certain points of the song especially mid-high i hear a strange sound like a spark rumor an electric bzzz or something like that. Hard to explain by words. I was wondering if happen also to anyone here ?

Mine are old, and I noticed when I push ear cups to ears sound is better better mids and bass.
Is that the difference with new pads as well?
I am cheap and wondering what difference it will really make.

The sound on mine was a mess, the bass out of control (which covered some microdetails) and the soundstage was really narrow
here's a comparison

In the end it was 22€ for a pair, I'm more scared about my K701 those pads are really expensive, but they don't have all those holes behind so I'm gonna try some aftermarkets before

I own the DT 990 250 Ohm Limited Edition.  It's essentially an all-black version the DT 990 PRO 250 Ohm with a 3m straight cable instead of the PRO's coiled cable.

And IMHO, its one of the best sounding under-$200 headphones you can buy.

Thanks for the info. The Limited Editions sound similar to the Premier 250 ohm edition?

I am fairly certain they are the same internally, but with different exterior styling & cables (Pro = coiled; Limited & Premium = straight). Here is some additional info that I came across:

I have the 250 Pro model & I agree with XERO1: They are some of the best sounding under-$200 headphones I've ever heard.
