As much as i like these HD595, the veiled highs are bothering me. Smooth, but at the same time choking. So im going to sell these soon, and get DT880 instead.

However, who has heard both versions of DT880? What are their exact, detailed differences in sound? Is 2005 worth of its price when old version can be bought in great bargain?

Thank you! Very interesting. Though i wonder if the bass presence is worth of 60€/80$ price difference.

Hi again, Maza

So the poor 595's have to find a new home, again? How sad

But to your actual issue. I have been interested about the very same question and with the Search I've found pretty good answeres. I have listened them both but not at the same time nor the same equipment.

So here's one link. I was trying to find that aphexx944's thread for sometime but it didn't catch the eye. But as it happens aphexx was faster

In my opinion, yes! It makes the new DT880's a much more enjoyable headphone, with a much better balance. I sold the 03 DT880's less than a week after I got them, but I like the 05 DT880's a LOT, and they are staying.

Atleast now that you have modded them!

I wonder if your pad mod works with DT880 03 too?

I can't try that of course, but even with the velour pads, the 05 is more balanced than the 03.

05 excels 03 in every way but the mids.. IMO..

03 version is more aggressive, especially the mids are more up front, than 05 version so.. if you like the grado-ish mids.. i would suggest 03 over 05.. otherwise, 05

I was considering 05 880s but I was put off by this comment. I really liked the 03s but found the mids just a little too polite, I was hoping the 05 mids would be just a bit more forward.
