DT770 Premium VS D2000

There is no right or wrong choice. We all hear different. They are both the same price range, and like I said before, cater to the same genres. I honestly don't see a clear winner...

There is virtually no objectivity in headphones, lol, we can't tell you what you hear. In MY opinion, I prefer the DT770s.

Barely anything in this world is better than something else. It may be better in some aspects, but the other thing may be able to do other things better.

All of you really told the truth. I also have a D1001. So I buy another brand is right. Beyer products are great I think.

How do you like your D1001 compared to the DT770? I ask because I'm getting the Creative Aurvana Live soon (same as D1001), and I had a pair of DT770 pros. Sure, they are nothing like the Premiums, but maybe you can give your input. Does the D1001 sound good compared to the DT770s?

Hmm I would really like to try the DT770 600ohm some day then. Having a pair of closed cans is always handy

I'd like to try any Premium DT770, to hear how much balanced they are vs the DT770 Pro 80ohms.

Don't be hating on the Pros.

They're basstastic, have a huge soundstage for a closed can, which I haven't seen get bested yet. They are also supreme in positioning. They do a lot of things right, though they are definitely not audiophile grade. They're very consumer oriented, which was fine by me. For music in general, you can get by with the XB700 and M50s for similar performance. XB700 being even more bassy, and the M50s being more balanced. They're a lot cheaper, but don't have anywhere near the soundstage or positioning of the DT770 pro 80..

Still, my maturing needs asks for more balance from my sound, and I'm starting to shy away from bass, bass, bass. Besides, my ES7 has quite a powerful punch when I need it.

the 770/Pro do everything wrong to my ears, especially the Pro/80...bass is the boomiest I've ever heard, the mids are recessed, the trebles are distorted as hell...the SS is inexistent and PRaT is AWOL, can it get any worse?

the Pro/80 is meant to be used by bass players in studio, try the second entry in that FAQ: http://archiv.beyerdynamic.de/en/home/service/faqs/faqs-headphones.html

The DT770 Pros are fun cans. They suck at music for sure, but they're fun cans.

If you like your bass without having it trample all over the other frequencies then the D2000s are a great can.  I don't know how they compare with the 770/80 Pro (never heard it), but right now my D2+ with Mach3 Bass at 10/10 > Total Bithead > D2000 plus some E Nomine is giving me a pretty good illusion of a small subwoofer in my office.

That's my definition of fun.  Plus you can always just turn it off if it doesn't work for the genre.
