Do you guys notice the prices for the older versions dropping since the release of the new ones?

They did drop for awhile (particularly from Meier Audio) but I don't think the old ones are widely available anymore (?). Probably can still be had on eBay though.

over the last six months (or so) Beyer headphones are virtually non-existent. On eBay UK there was 1 pair this week. Actually, over this time period there have more 770-880-990 Beyers available used on Head-Fi sale forum than ebay US, UK, or De. - and this phenomenom is more likely do to headfiers wishing to play with other flavors than any other reason.

Eventually, the older version is going to become more and more rare. Then it will be like a collection item. That's one of the reasons why I got them (besides the fact that I like their look). If I wanted a newer set of DT880s, I'd just order another pair.

collector prices are based on a)originally small quantity was made/built b) high price, which by definition is self-limiting c) extreme high quality/artistry with dollops of a and b. - do you really think dt880 qualifies..........or do you really, really, really want a 2nd pair?
