I'd like to get something like neutral sound but i don't want go too thin on lower end. Which one has better bass?
P.S.Are 600\650 really made of carbon fiber or plain plastic??

No personal experience on HD-600, but according to everything I have readed, most likely HD600 wins. DT-880 is known for its flat (in bad way) sounding bass, something I can confirm.

I can't decide what to choose for 4+ months... Are they (880) really that bad on bass even with amplification??? (checked list of your phones)---How'd you compare 880 and 595 in bass department?

From what I heard, the 600's have dominant bass while the 880's are on the lean side. If you ask me personally, I think the 600's bass is over the top and the 880's has a tight and perfect amount of bass. In fact, after getting used to my 880's and SR225's so much, I think these bass dominate headphones are just ugly sounding on the bottom end. Whereas something like the AKG 701's sound perfect to my ears.

It's all in the eyes of the user!

DT880 bass is balanced and very detailed, and its all there. But it seriously lacks punch a'la Grado style. Bass has more body than SR225 due to better extension though.

Simply put, the bass of DT-880 isnt very realistic feeling, though it CAN produce some impressive bass if song you are listening really has some.

Its hard to explain, but thats what I felt. I never felt the DT-880 would lack bass as quantity, the punch was the problem. Is it dynamics im talking about? Anyway, DT-990 fixed that side of things.

x2

I'm not sure the HD600 is much better in that respect really... HD25-1, now that's a Senn with punch!

I have to agree. Once I got use to my k701 and sr225, listening to a friend's hd650 was impossible. The bass just overwhelms everything. It was like being in a club, where all you heard was some massive thumps while trying to carry out a conversation. When I'm listening to a song, I'd rather have the singer's voice shine through, not the drum line.

I've been switching off listening to the 880 and 650 for a week now, and the 650 definitely has deeper and more authoritative bass. Is it over-emphasized? I'm not sure, but if definitely more prominent than through the 880. I don't know about the 600 personally, but I am intrigued by some positive comments I've heard.

i have the HD580's and DT880's. The 580 has more bass (quantity) but the 880 just isn't that far behind in my opinion. I find the 880s bass to be perfect--not too much, and not too little, but I'm not a basshead anyways

imho the DT880 has better quality bass than my HD580

With the right tubes they're not only more detailed and dynamic, but they don't lack bass or have sibilant highs, it's probably my favourite, most synergistic combo probably moreso than the K701 + Heed Canamp
