Mainly a comfort thing. The 225s are just not great to wear for hours straight, day after day. Espescially now that the D2000s I have at home have me throughly spoiled.

Yep, Amazon's price on those fluctuate, it appears, just about daily.

I bought a pair a couple of weeks ago and did not like them - there's a thread about this - and I returned them. Looks like a couple of others also didn't like them either and sent them back. But it seems we're in the minority, most folks are pleased.

They ARE quite comfortable.

I bought mine when the other thread came up. I paid around 180-190usd.

I love their sound. More laid back than Grados and warmer. More balanced and natural sounding too.

I'm thinking of selling my 325i now.

Well, I got my pair right after work today (1 day shipping is nice...) and I have to say I really like them. Extremly comfortable (not *quite* as comfy as my D2000s, but that's a high bar indeed.) My initial, no-break in impression of the sound is that it is a very good compromise between the Denon and my K701s. More neutral than the Denon's (but still prehaps a touch on the 'fun' side of strictly flat) and more immediate and upfront than the 701s. Me likes... More details impressions to come after a week or so...

Hehe. Runnign through 'Wish You Were Here' right now, which is one of my benchmark sound albums. Very good texture. I might actually end up leaving these here at the house and taking the Denons to the office...decisions decisions.

I bought a pair off Amazon when the were selling for around $175. Really nice headphones, but the sounded a bit thin and tended to over emphasize the highs.

I bought a pair of HD600s for comparison's sake and have some HD650s due to arrive tomorrow. In the meantime, I can only offer that I still like the Beyers. Compared to the Senns, they have a wider soundstage and (to my ears at least) a slightly more natural sound.

Interested in your impressions, though.

If it's any consolation, you're probably not missing all that much seeing as how you have some 225s. If you don't have a job, what are you doing wasting your time over here?

Maybe I am blind or stupid (most likely both but I digress)... What are the impedance on these phones? Also if you can answer that, do you know what the ohms on the 770 are as well? Thanks.

the beyers on amazon are 250 ohms if I am not mistaken, the new version of DT 770 are 250 as well, there are 80ohm version of both out there (the DT 770 80ohm often pop up in the FS forums). Also there are 600ohm versions of both available, but these can be acquired only through beyer directly, and seem to be the highest priced versions.
