Ever so slightly derail here but does that 20% off code work with any purchases from hdtracks or is that just for this particular album?

Pretty certain it's only for that album.  Their discounts are often specific to a certain genre, artist, or label.  Usually the discounts that cover all albums are in the 10% to 15% range.

My dog told me she could hear the diff!

Seriously,  it's way beyond the range of my hearing, and I can't discern any changes in depth, stage, or clarity.

I subscribed to their E mail notifications.  It's great because you get all the discount codes they offer throughout the year.  And yes, the code for this album is on the first post here.  UHDD20

Sorry, should've been more clear. Where can I get codes for a percentage off for other albums or just the site in general?

Love this album.  Listening to my R10 out of my GS-X MKII right now and just absolute love track 08 (whippoorwhill) by Alexis Cole.  This track is so very well recorded....I'm super impressed!

It is amazing but have you noticed a hiss in Whippoorwill track ? Is like a noise floor in the quietest passages that is not in other tracks or i am imagining things ?

Hey...Thanks so much for the post about this CD. It's great that you're helping to raise awareness of binaural recording; as someone who's been doing that for a few years now, it's always nice to see knowledgeable people give the subject some attention. I don't know that binaural is for everyone per se (some seem to love it, others, not so much), but certainly for the head-fi-ers, it's right up our proverbial alley.

If you want to check out some more binaural tracks from my sessions, links are shown below; some of the work is just binaural, some is hybrid (a mix of binaural and variations on conventional stereo), and some tracks are straight up conventional stereo. Howvere, please don't stream the tracks from the soundcloud site - their player transcodes content down to 128 kbps and this wreaks havoc with the imaging. However, you can download any or all of the tracks and avoid that. Some of the material has been posted in flac format, some in 320 kbps mp3 format, and some events have been posted in both formats:

You can also check out (and download) a Cowboy Junkies show I recorded back in 2009 at The Ark in Ann Arbor:

You can also audition / download a live recording of Sam Roberts Band (from back in 2009), which was recorded at The FIllmore Detroit:

So...grab those 'phones and check out the various tracks. I hope you guys and gals dig my work.

Mark

Hi Mark, thanks very much for the cowboy junkies recordings - im a huge fan of their stuff and never had the pleasure of listening to them live - your recordings are about as close to it I will get probably.

found their other stuff on your site - very happy to find Wrong Piano - my fave song of theirs

once again - very much appreciated

this may sound complete noob but.......
what's the difference between 96/24 and 192/24?

1. 96/24 has 96,000 samples (waves) per second and 192/24 has twice that number.
2. 96/24 is half the size of 192/24. For a 5-minute track, 96/24 could be as big as 60 MB. 192/24 has twice the size at 120 MB
3. Older hardwares may struggle with 96/24 and will almost be useless playing 192/24
4. A 192/24 album may cost about $24. A 96/24 about $17. And a 44.1/16 about $11. (check hdtracks.com)
5. Theoretically, 192/24 has more resolution than 96/24. But according to research that tested both audiophiles and ordinary people, neither could not discern the difference between 192/24 and 44.1/16. Which goes to show that the ability of human beings to hear sound is the limiting factor. In other words, for a human being, whose hearing range is between 20 hz and 20 khz if he is a teenager, or worse 12 khz if he is more than 35 years old, there is no audible or perceptible difference between the two or among the three.

Anyway, this is all only tangentially related to the main topic. Let's get back on track.
