My little carnivore.

Eating a chicken thigh, bone in, and skin on.

She will finish a single chicken thigh in one meal, saving the bone to crunch up for the end. There is nothing left over.

Eating a pork shoulder, bone in, and all skin, most fat removed. Took her three days to eat this hunk. There was bone left over, she gnawed on it and ate some, but most bone was left over and discarded.

I personally know of at least two dogs that died after eating food on the recall list. One was a beautiful Great Dane puppy. All of our dogs got sick. One of our dogs nearly died but recovered. After that, but before the recall was announced, I started cooking for our dogs.
I get my recipes from Home-Prepared Dog & Cat Diets: the Healthful Alternative by by Donald R. Strombeck. Author is a Professor Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. He did his research and presents balanced diets for healthy dogs along with recipes for dogs with special needs.

I buy ingredients in the largest sizes at the local supermarket. Cost is significantly less then premium dry dog food. All our dogs are noticeably healthier looking. I'm nearly certain cooking saved at least one and maybe all of our dogs.

Hi Ed, I thought chicken bone is bad for dog since it can easily break. Is there a part that is safe for dog? I'm just wondering since everytime we prepared dinner using chicken, we usually get rid of the bone. If it's safe, we prefer to give it to the dogs instead.

Raw chicken bone is fine. When it's cooked, the bone will splinter which causes the issues.

I feed my dog Nature's Variety Raw Instinct-- but soon will be switching to the frozen meat paddies they make, or maybe just go all out raw. After switching to Raw Instinct from Pro Plan & Nutro, the difference is huge! Not only in physical health(coat, etc), but his overall behavior has been better.
