Looks more contemporary but still similar to the old D777. Do you think this cd player is an "updated" version of the D777 (same sound but newer look) or do you think it's an entirely different player?

Raymond, the D-E777 is basically a currently produced D-EJ72# series PCDP with a nicer remote. (The D-EJ72# is a mid-level series of those "new" G-Protection Sony PCDPs, and claims up to 86 hours of battery life with four AA batteries - two internal, two in an external battery case.) Unfortunately, that version is available only in Japan; we Americans get either no remote or a crappy no-LCD-display one.
