I can't stand headphones that support most of their weight by the headband. I tried on some ATH M50s today and immediately felt discomfort from the headband -- little padding and too much pressure pressing down on the top of my head. 
 
How are the DT770s in this regard? I know everyone says they're comfortable due to the velour padding, but that doesn't really matter to me if the headband is uncomfortable, or the headphone is designed in such a way that the headband supports most of the weight.

I've had several models of the DT770 over the years and the Premium model was the most comfortable. I never felt pressure from them at all.

If your are particularly sensitive to something like this, there is no substitute for testing it yourself.

I had to bend my dt770 headband a little, they were pressuring like one spot on my head so was annoying after a while. Now they are super comfy.
