Does it make sense to have HD580 and HD650 at same time

I have HD580 and HD650 both drive by DV332/Zero/MacBook.
I bought them because I think I can compare and decide myself.
After 1 month listening I feel I have to keep them both.
They are different, at least in my setup they present totally different sound to me.

650 give me rich, powerful, big room sound. 580 is more light, bright, narrow and more detail.

Then after a lot of AB compare I find out for the vocal, classics, jazz I like 650 but for the pop, single instrument performance I like 580 better.

I used to think I will just keep one because to have 2 sens open cans do not make any sense.

Any idea? Thanks.

Sounds like you answered your own question.

I don't think I'll ever sell any of my grados, even though I have 2x sr60s and a 325i. When I get an rs1 I'll still keep them all.

I have just a little bit different question. I already have HD580 and HD650, and like them a lot. Should I get the HD600 ?

No. HD600 and HD580 sound basically identical. Same drivers, just a different cable and different grilles.

I ask myself the same question over and over again but it seems it's impossible to let any one of them go.

I understand your feeling. I'm asking myself the same question with my three open AKG headphones.
But I find that they suit different music genres. Just like you described the diffences between the HD600 and HD650.
For rock I grab a different can, than for acoustic.

Same here! When I have sold certain ones in the past, I end up missing them, and buy them again.

Now, I've learned to keep certain ones, and only sell a can if I find another one that is enough better in some way to replace it.

And, besides, I gotta have enough cans in "rotation" to have some variety in my listening experiences.

I've always had at least 5 cans around, usually more like 10, or more, lately.
Okay -- so I'm a Head-Fi addict....
