Does anyone else just not like partying?

I party all the time. Bottle (or two) of wine, my wife, some good music......thats a party. I do miss smoking a good spliff though. That use to be a prerequisite when I was single. Got a bag of shrooms sitting in my fridge as I type this. Maybe some day I'll actually have some. Ahhh, it's been a long time......

The definition of "party" changes as you age.

I love Parties, any type really...

house parties:
the best parties are the low budget ghetto style, those are awesome cause you always have a live dj spinning real vinyl and he has his entourage of friend dj's that spin after him. I went to a Chicago style house party this summer and there was a dj spinning live for 13 hours strait! (actually the party was hosted by a dj who invited all his dj friends..so that would answer the 13 hour mark). usually the ghetto style Chicago house party will include the entire house as a open forum to do what ever you please, bedrooms are for sexytime and backrooms or back living rooms are for the drugs (usually just pot, maybe a few lines). the kitchen always has tons of stocked food and the fridge is open to all guests. the second bathroom is used as a bar thats fully stocked with keg's of lite or other cheap beer on ice in the bathtub and the mixers are on the bathroom counter, also the sink in the bathroom is used as a ice bucket. you know its a true ghetto Chicago party also when you see all kinds of people..black, white, red, purple, upper class, gangstas, stoners, etc and they all get along!!! usually there is never a fight cause everyone at these parties is "cool with each other". another thing thats a must have about a Ghetto style Chicago house party is house music! Chicago is the birthland and WE LOVE IT!!!!

Bars:
I own a bar i grew up in actually my rents met there so...
Bars to me is either marketing for mine (buying everyone rounds of drinks) or just hanging out before we head up to my place (open till 4am baby!).

Clubs:
from 14-24 i worked in Dance clubs, either on the south side of Chicago to the north side of Chicago. i did a year or two in the downtown clubs but its all big corporations that pays by check so i never really stuck with the Downtown scene to long (also its the lowest paying area). i did 90% of my time with dance lighting but did spin off to DJ, Bar tend, bounce, Manage, and promote also. since i have a background working in Clubs i really don't prefer to go to them on my off days. clubs really don't do much for me at all unless i am in a huge group of friends and i know i had a stable ride to and from that i can trust with my life.

Hotel Parties:
again the best hotel parties are the Ghetto style variety! the place has to be Ghetto cause it adds so much flavor and fun you will remember the party by.
usually in a hotel party you have few people, no music, two beds, and maybe some sexy time. i am a bit old for these now but i would be willing to attend one if i knew the peeps going. i seen lots of fights at hotel parties though, not my style.

Frat parties:
went to a hand full and thought they were boring as hell, just a bunch of cocky college kids floating the size of their boats. fights and drama at every one i went to, no sexy time ever witness let alone experienced, just a bunch of mom and dad money being wasted on the kids attitudes.

Toga parties:
to revealing...not me at all.

Tupperware parties:
plenty of inventory and chance to easily turn into a huge sexy time party but i never seen or heard of such yet. i went to a few but there usually is just wine coolers, no music, lots of plastic storage thingies, and a 15 to 1 girl to guy ratio (me being the only dude). its like a goldmine that i have no drill for...i will keep researching these and get back to you later.

Rave parties:
worked Lot's of them myself doing the lights but these days i hire peeps to do the jobs cause all the parties are either in Harvey or Rockford. everyone should go to at least one decent rave party before they die, its really fun no matter if you do the drug thing or not..never seen a fight at a rave nor have i heard of one. the best is seeing someone stick their head up to the wall of pa speakers (or pounding subs) and shake their body to the fast beats..wild!

oh look a penny!

I don't like large groups, though I am fairly insecure.

Personally I've never gone for partying, myself. I have no interest in drinking (just a personal choice, not a judgement on others who do). Even parties with no alchohol, I usually just dont get the point. I'd rather spend my time doing something more interesting.
I guess if it was with people with the exact same interests, such as a headfi meet, that would be much better, but most people aren't quite as interested in audio and music as myself, in my personal life. Most people just want to watch the football game and drink beer.

I went to one party during college, and was bored enough that I never went to another since. I prefer just hanging with a group of friends and vegging out. Over that, I still prefer spending my time on my own hobbies.

Yeh sometimes i feel like that. I have to force my self to go, most of the time its just lazyness that i dont go. It also depends who the party is for or where it is. I love going to gigs and id never miss out on a band i wanna see!

It's weird - I'm very outgoing, generally well-liked, and very involved in the school. I have no idea why I don't like partying. I just kind of think it's a waste of time I guess. I'd rather sit at home and listen to some music. My daily life is so crazy and jammed with things to do and stress that friday nights are the only time I really get to myself I guess. I'm with people 99.999% of the time during the week, it's just nice to be alone for once.

Is there anyone else that is generally popular but dislikes partying? I'm starting to feel bad as I've made up excuses for the last couple of invitations, but I don't want these people to think it has something to do with them.

And it's not like Keystone or Natty Lite make going any more appealing (barf). Kids around here are too cheap to buy real beer. At least get Sam Adams or something....
