It seems like all of the below $20 ear buds are made with super thin wires that will break after a few months of use.  I found a pair of Sony ones that have lasted me up to a year but they are discontinued so I'm looking for a replacement.  Are their any below $20 ear buds that are made to last longer than a few months preferably longer than a year.  I would be interested in both an in-ear style that has a decent or at least noticeable bass and good noise canceling ability, and a pair of "normal" ear buds (the style that comes with your older iPods, or the ones that don't go into your ear canal) to sleep with, don't care to much other than durability for those.  Thanks for any direction/suggestions.

I bought these a few days ago for $25 and I'm sure they will go on sale again.

They have decent sound quality for $25 and the wires are the flat ones that don't get tangled. They seem like they would hold up to some abuse.
