I am wondering if I should explore any other headphones as far as significant differences from what I already have. I seem to like exploring. I am thinking about the Ultrasone ED9 but don't know if they would be enough of a departure from what I already have. Any suggestions regarding the ED9s or other headphones would be appreciated?

I currently have the following:

Headphones
Stax O2
K1K
Grado HP2
Grado SR80
Senn HD600

Amps
SP MPX3 SE Extreme
Grace M902
STAX 007t
KGSS

I've owned the AKG K271S, but sold them because I didn't like their "bright" sound. Ended up buying Senn. HD650 after that.

It has been about 8 months since I first used my HD650 and I can't be happier.

From reading your post, it is obvious you are far ahead of me, lol. I need to catch up!

You need the Grado RS-1. I'd toss a Beyerdynamic DT48 in there, too. They're very different from the rest of your rather nice collection.

Possibly pick up an amp with transformers on the output (the MPX3 is OTL) and give vinyl a try if you haven't.

Apologies if this causes you to spend more money.

You seem to be quite good covered already. With the SR-007, K1000 and HP1000.
You may want to look into a closed-back headphone though. The ED9 as you list, or even a Stax 4070...

Or just settle down on what you have!

its all up to you... if you want to end the madness, simply leave head-fi and enjoy your gears... if you chose to stay, then sorry about your wallet, itll never end unless HP/s companies stops making headphones...

DT48s really aren't that nice, especially considering the price of them. Still find it weird that most TV and quite a few music studios always have a pair. Quite good for picking up vocals and sibilance on though so guess that's part the reason why. Much nicer headphones are available for less IMO.

I like what folks have recommended as I tried and owned most of those.

Does the madness end? Probably not, but the fun doesn't stop too
