it was a fun reading.
IMO what OP is describing is static discharge nothing more. no shielding is perfect without ground (except for the fridge in the last indiana jones)
i had something similar years ago on my q-jays, and changing dap would solve the problem for some harry potter/ground reasons.
it makes sense since it is not april 1st. with the clothing and the fact that in winter you're much more subject to it. maybe your shoes are even more responsible than your short.
now sorry but i must go back building a stirling engine from coke cans
