yeah, aussies and english use way more slang than americans do. canadians use even less. i think 'we' have the smallest vocabulary in the entire english-speaking world because we just in relative terms do not use slang

I speak fluent Jamaican Patois which is a language and should be treasured by the Jamaican Gov't, but it is called slang or country talk. The Queens English is the national language.

Ever heard a middle aged white man from the suburbs trying to use urban slang? Well that's exactly what I sound like trying to use slang. It's sad considering that I'm a 23 year old black girl. I almost got beat up for saying "nigga" in a joke, till the people turned around and realized I was black.

beautiful. haha. listen, i frequently get told that my english is very good for a second language speaker (which i am, but have spoken english since like 3 years old, about 2 days after swedish) so when i say something terrible, people think it is cute. for some odd reason, i don't fit in... perhaps like you. we should have 'slang or colloquialism mis-fi(t)s club'

cheers

My younger brother actually speaks like this, he seems to always have done.

My Brother - "Ya fancy a few Brittneys tonight, me old china?"
Myself - "Yeah why not!"
My Brother - "Sheethot, lemme grab ma tennis..."
Myself - "Nice jacket! Is the bar far?"
My Brother - "Snot gonna tax ya son."

That's the problem with slang. The entire point of speech/writing is to be understood by others. If you're using a vocabulary that changes by the minute, you are not going to be understood by anyone outside of your clique. Of course, some want to be obscure, but why limit yourself to being understood by just one group?

Ye dats the way it goes, when im wit my buddies i talk easier like i dont be using mad grammer i dont give a fk. i talk quick straight to da point. iv had people ask me if im from ny but hell i aint ever been to ny.

Then when I talk to adults or Bosses. I talk nicely, but still i tend to kinda talk quick. And I am much more careful about swearing lol, and am much more polite.

Slang partly evolved as a way of being able to communicate within your clique without others understanding, and as a form of peer or community recoginition.

Slang both bars and a facilitates communication, by design.
