Dita Project M and Navigator impressions.

These units are provided by Dita Audio for the purpose of touring between Audio Geek members in Europe. A big thanks to Dita for this. Also, a big thanks to Audio Geeks for organizing the tour.

A little bit about myself: I am certainly no reviewer! I am merely a 52-year-old music lover, with a slight IEM hoarding problem😅. I like more neutral sets, maybe QDC-like tuning, but have a wide tolerance for different sound profiles. I also have a fondness for all BA or BA+EST IEM’s, but overall sound is the important part, not the tech’s. The following is my short subjective take on this IEM!

I’ll start with the cool looking Navigator Dac/Amp dongle. On this I don’t have much to say😅. I mostly use Bluetooth for dongles, which Navigator doesn’t have. It is a solid good working unit with plenty of power for my IEM’s. It is a perfect companion for Project M. I am also sure that after Armageddon, the Navigator is the only surviving dongle, since it is built like a tank! Pretty sure you could run it over with a truck, without any mentionable damage😂

The Project M is a beautifully build IEM. And I really mean that! It is one of the most beautiful IEM’s I have seen, with impeccable craftsmanship and finish. It has a nice modular Cardas cable, glow in the dark Final E tips, a cool little Systainer carry case and a less wasteful packaging.

PM have a nice balanced tuning, that for my ears lean a little bright. Most people I know love the sound of PM, but to my surprise my 52-year-old ears actually found them a little too bright somewhere in the highs on certain modern pop songs. For older rock and the music I mostly listen to they were perfectly fine, and I loved the sound from the PM. They are comfortable to listen to for long periods of time, and the cable is also comfortable.

Project M is an excellent IEM! It is well tuned and well-built with nice accessories. Despite the odd problems in the highs for me I would absolutely recommend trying them if you have the chance! They might be perfect for you.

I tried the Project M with the Aune S17 Pro, fed by my Sony DAP. It sounds fantastic!

Got the Project M. They sound great out of the box with the Qudelix 5K. Detailed, airy and dynamic. The stock tips have a deep fit which I think is important for optimal performance.
Surprisingly they don't sound too bright and now I regret ordering a 40 USD copper cable..

Can I buy the included tips anywhere? I did some research and they look very similar in shape to the Divinus Velvet tips. Can anyone confirm this?

Currently, I am using SpinFit CP145 ear tips. For my ears, they are comfortable and sound great.

Occasional sibilance creating issues for me. I can't stand sibilance for a bit as i generally listen to vocal based songs. I become very furious when i hear harshness and sibilance in my favourite songs.
I tried srock tips, spinfit w1, divinus velvet, cp145, kbear07 and other tips. Nothing helped to reduce sibilance but velvet tips made sound better. My source is lg v60, onix alpha xl1. Should i try copper cable now or is there any other way! I am too upset now.

Playing with DITA Project M after a long time (After unit tour). The sound matured over time. The lower end is improved a lot. With the warm neutral sources and so dynamic like Dethonray DTR1+ Limited Edition, it becomes unreal.

The low-end on the Project M is indeed special and underappreciated.

I took full advantage of my trip to Singapore by spending lots of time at Crinacle’s hangout and Zeppelin & Co.

While at Zep, I heard and purchased the Project M.

I loved the treble-emphasized tuning and tasteful but not overly emphasized bass.

I did some tip rolling experiments with Divinus velvet Wide Bore and Pentaconn Coreir AL (also wider bore). I personally found them both to over emphasize the treble, creating an experience to looking into a whacky mirror you can find at a carnival or circus - the image just made no sense to me. As such, I’m sticking with the Final E Type tips. I may be curious in trying other narrow bore tips in time. Until recently I never fully appreciated how much tips impact the sound!!!

I also absolutely love the build quality of this iem. The shell is stunning in both fit and finish. The Cardas cable has great insertion into the shell with some strain relief / non exposed conductors. The replaceable termination mechanism is also solid.

The case is fun, but could be better / bigger. But honestly I’m happy buying a better third party case for this iem. They deserve it.

The other purchase I made while in Singapore was the Mega5est, but talking about that here would be OT!

For folks visiting the little red dot, go check out Zeppelin & Co and the Hangout!!!

Yeah, I like the case in general, but it just seems a bit too small for the IEM? :D

Grats on your purchases, hope you had a nice trip, besides listening to some nice gear :)
