Except for the paint job, are there any? Hd229 seems to have lower impedance...Does it make hd229 any easier to drive than hd228? Hd228 shouldn't be that hard to drive judgin by the specs so I'm not sure if reduced impedance on hd229 even makes a difference. I'm not sure why hd228 needs an amp more than most fullsize headphones. Is the cable still the same? Very thin withour proper strain relief on the plug... If anyone has experience with both I would appreciate if you took the time to help me out :)

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD228 and for what I paid (approx $50) they are ok.  I also have a pair of Sennheiser PX200's and the PX200's blow them out of the water.  Huge difference.  I don't know anything about the HD229's, but if you can afford it, pay a bit more or at least look for another pair.  Just my 2cents.

Thanks for the reply. I have many better headphones thand h228. I was just asking because I read a lot of reviews and hd229 is a headphone often refferred to. I just like to know if hd228 and hd229 are the same so I can make my assumptions on reviews more precisely.
