tbh the A829 is better sounding than any portable I've ever owned, weighs next to nothing, etc, the 828 is more or less the same thing, so I'd very much support that buy

haven't heard the 6xx series so I can't comment, but honestly, I could care less, the 829 is stellar, and beats the ipod quite nicely (except on capacity, but the 30+ hour battery life and lack of itunes more than compensate)
