A little disclaimer:  I have been pouring over threads regarding the ipod Classic, and they have left me very confused.  That said. . .
 
I am pretty sure that the 6th and 7th generation iPods all use the same hardware, so far as DAC, headphone amp, etc?  Because I have read posts about the 7th gen being a much better music player sound quality wise, as well as having less bugs.  How can this be? 
 
I own the 6th gen right now, but it is on it's deathbed and  I am buying a new mp3 player tomorrow.  Will the 7th gen be an improvement in any way, or is it the exact same thing?

Apple never release ipod classic 7G, so i think the original ipod classic 6G(2007), the 1st revision 6G (2008), and the 2nd revision 6G  (2009)   , all use the same internal hardware , except the 1st revision introduced Genius and audio recording capabilities, and the 2nd revision has a 160gb version which has a thinner size than the 160gb version of original 6G

So, IYO, there is no difference between the 2nd and 3rd revisions?  I've heard things along the line of "apple didn't say a word, but the HO is much improved."
