Did Sennheiser just reveal the Orpheus successor?

But you hit on a good point - Sony needs to revive their Magnificent MDR-R10, or make a successor also! I've had the humbling chance to listen to that, and I can tell you that is the best sound I've heard in my 36-year life. Period. IMO I enjoyed it even better than Stax SR-09.

Now back to the affordable Orpheus idea - how about they make certain criteria to qualify for the "poor man's Orpheus", like proof of a low income to obtain a cheaper alternate version. This way more can get the chance to experience it, and it won't become so commercialised.

Seeing Technics come back just now actually gives me a glimmer of hope now. I'm not interested in the headphone too much though. Closed and I think this is Technics first foray into totl headphones and judging from the prices of Technics latest products very expensive. My rpdj1200's lasted me 7 years though and went through all kinds of dj abuse. Those still might be my favorite headphones. Nostalgia not sq though. The TT I can not wait for. Something to take on the $30k VPI Classic DD.

Rumor has it that the extra pins are for dual bias connections and some type of protection circuit like that fitted on the Quad ELS speakers. This might indicate that the new amplifier could be a dual mono config and a bit of a beast in terms of output. Hopefully all will be revealed in the coming weeks.
No details of the bias level either vs the original Orpheus or the Stax Pro.

Thanks for the info.  Please keep updating.

In your opinion , from the technical standpoint, does the new Senneheiser have a chance to match original SRM T2, DIY T2, new SRM T2
or 845 ES amplifier?

Yeah I wasn't kidding when I said $30-$40k was the sweet spot for TT's and Speakers. I'd pass on Goldmund but a Teragaki takeshi TT would be hard to resist.

I've been following the countdown page for this one, the initial 9 day countdown has passed and a web experience has opened up.
Looks like November 3rd is the next date to see if new info comes to pass.

You may now resume the regular price vs value debate. *sigh*

I'm not sure what I just did there.  Don't really want to post a spoiler.  BTW if your laptop/computer isn't powerful enough then don't bother.  I have a mobile i7 and only 4 gb of memory with mobile video processor as well, and it was kinda stuttering.  Need to use Chrome as the browser too.

Haha! Bizarre you mention this! We just listed the perfect cable too. :) http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/vertere-acoustics-pulse-hb-mains-cable.html

You're not reaching high enough!

Those sneak peak pictures - where are they coming from?  The headphone doesn't look as classy as the amplifier/dac.  Headphone looks modern while the amp/dac looks classical/modern with it's marble look.

Noting beat a direct comparison in a control environment.  I'm curious to know what you think when the your SR009 & KGSSHV get there.

KGSSHV has been here for a few weeks now. Just running an airbow sr-sc-11 though. I love the airbow but it can not keep up with the hd800/Teton. Even with a PJ deal it will probably be next year before I have 009's.

It is a great amp that should work well with both the SR009 and SR007.  Is it a full-size unit?  I own one and it gives the best bang for the buck currently.
