UPDATED ON 7/25!!

OK, I'm thinking that we're just about a go for this little road tripl I'm looking forward to the first (of many, I hope) Detroit-area Head-Fi road trips to another meet!! This one is to the Chicago meet, which only seems fair, as the Chicago fellas (Tuberoller, johnjcb, reynman, and ray samuels) have made it here for our last two meets. I've made it to a Chicago meet, and it was a nice change of pace to meet some of the other Chicago folks. I'm very much looking forward to taking some folks with me for this one.

For those who are not aware, the meet is on Saturday, July 31. Details are in this thread: Chicago Meet Thread

Here's the deal:

1) I need to get in and out all in one day, so we'll have to leave pretty early in the morning (I'd like to be under way by 7:00 AM at the latest...no kidding about that time), and leave by 7 PM at the very latest.

2) I can take probably as many as five other Head-Fi maniacs in my mini-van (it's not too cool, but it's practical

)...maybe fewer if we bring lots of equipment. As of right now there are two folks who are wanting to go (see list below). If it falls to one, I'm going to make it a family trip and say sorry. So....anyone who wants to go, speak up ASAP!!

As of right now, the following folks have said that they are going:

btaki
The Mac

Anyone else who is interested in going needs to let me know NO LATER than Thursday night. I need to inform the good folks in Chicago about how many of us Detroit hooligans are going to be crashing their party. At this point, unless something unfortunate happens along the way, we're there!!!

PM me ASAP if you are interested...I'm thinking that it would be a very good time. If you can't make it, don't feel too bad...after all, there will be another Head-Fi meet a week later in Detroit. I'm a firm believer, however, in making an effort to get to meets in other towns...and I've always enjoyed attending the Chicago meets.

Looking forward to it!!

Any news? I'm hoping to come with the detroit folks if there's space, and I'm just hoping that there will be.

I could even do some of the driving if you get tired Tom.

Billy will have my Jecklin Floats at the Chicago meet (assuming that they get there in time from Houston). Since their next stop is intended to be Detroit, perhaps one of you gents can do the honors of escorting them?

The Floats are on the first leg of their 2004 world tour. They broke out in Switzerland, and then spent some time in Australia but did mostly shelf duty there. They came to the Cayman Islands via Singapore, and it was here that they first saw the light of day. On the May leg of the tour, they went to New York, then Denver, and made a brief appearance in the Atlanta airport, before passing through Miami and back to Cayman. In June, they went to Orange County, Ca. to do a gig at Dean's Place, a hip hoppin' joint with an unusually large collection of small shoes in the entry way! They opened for the R10's in Florida where they were briefly spotted on Mikhail's head as he tuned his Maestro.

They're now in enroute to Houston for this weekend's meet, and then to Billy's Blues Joint in Chicago, then on to the Motor City, and then what next? It's looking like Seattle unless someone else lays claim to these gems in the meantime...

Hi All:

I'll get more info on this to y'all sometime in the next 24 hours. Sorry, but I've been swamped with personal and work-related stuff that's had to come first.

Talk at ya soon....

Hi All,

Well, as promised, I'm updating this thread...finally. Sorry about the delay, but I've been busy with a lot of things (including eye surgery for my daughter).

I will post updates in the first post in the thread. As of right now, we are a go. Currently there are two folks who are interested in going. I'm still in for taking two folks or more down with me. However, if it drops to one, I'm going to opt for going down on my own and taking my family with me for a day. No pressure...but anyone who's interested in going who hasn't spoken up yet need do so ASAP!!!

I'm looking forward to a roadtrip with some of my Detroit area Head-Fi brothers!!

I've got a potential family matter that might keep me from going to Chicago:

My daughter had eye surgery a week ago. She's developed some post-operative complications. I'm hoping that she will be OK in the next 24 hours or so, and will proceed under the assumption that she will. However, if she's still having as much difficulty as she is today, I will be unable to attend.

I will leave PM's for anyone who is signed on to go, letting you know what's up later today. Sorry about all this...
