Hey all. Im lookin for a fairly portable edit:desktop amp under $140. I have the hd 558, and when i plug it into a stereo reciever it sounds so much better than out of my sansa fuze. Btw i have all flac files. So, any reccomendations are welcome. Thanks so much for the time you take to help me. Merry Christmas

When looking for amps, just use Google. For example, the valhalla made by Schiit Audio can be found by simply googling valhalla amp.

And at $350 for a tube amp, You'll find the Valhalla doesn't fit your needs (or mine) whatsoever.
Is it not very good for the price?

I'm not sure what you mean by fairly portable. check out jdslabs. They make some great products for portable use.

I wouldn't consider a tube amp portable in the slightest.
Huge post edit and bump.

What about Headroom amps? Have you looked into them?

Fiio E9 amp. Very powerful, very neutral.

Thanks for the reply. Ive looked at them, but there arent any desktop amps by them that are in that price range.

Even I still own one. Its a very good amp for its price range. It was my beginner desktop amp and I haven't parted with it. I had the E7 before but sold that and upgraded to the DACport LX. Both pair quite well together with my Open-Back Denon 5000s.

Will this Fiio E9 amp be good enough for HD650s? I am thinking of just getting the E9 amp without the E7 DAC?
What happens if you have the DAC with this unit? Is it a better quality sound?

The E9 doesn't have a DAC. You can buy an external one and connect them. The E7 is ok but there are better DACs out there for the price. The E9 will be more than enough to power your HD650s. Very powerful little amp.
