Denon D2000 Vs D5000 Treble

Significant, no. That's the simple answer. I've owned both. The wooden cups a slightly smoother mid and high section. It's subtle though. Not worth 2x the money IMO opinion. Now,with that said I hear that the d5k is being discontinued. So keep that in mind.

Both have a nice sparkle on the treble without being bright or fatiguing. Very nice and highly recommended headphone!!

I had the D2000 before and I found they were awesome for some genres of music but not very good as an all rounder so I got some HD650....

I like the HD650 a lot but they just aren't as good as the D2000 for some genres, so I plan to get some D2000 or D5000 to compliment the HD650's....

I am thinking just get the D2000 because from what I understand the difference is very subtle?

Thanks for the honest advice!

I think the D2000 and D5000 share a fairly similar high end frequency response, although without mods the D5000 is a better all round headphone. For most people the D2000 would be more than enough.

What genre of music do you listen to ?

I listen to a lot of genres but I wanted the Denons mainly for electronic type music and bass response... For most genres I like the HD650 but they are not so good for faster, bass heavy music.

Ive found both to be equally shrill in the high end, but the d5000 has slightly better midrange.

Tyll has posted an article on his Web site that's pretty good at explaining the differences between these 3 models in the 2012 year.  Apparently, there have been some changes made.  These changes are more notable in the 5000 and 7000.  However, the article was a great read which allowed me to get up to speed on the differences.

The treble in the 5000 is a bit more refined than in the 2000, but the big differences are in the mids and bass--as well as sound stage.

Well put. This is how I hear the difference too.
