I'm trying to find a portable amp/DAC for my pair of D2000. I've looked at the Fiio E7 and the Digizoid Zo2 and I'm leaning towards the E7. If there are any better options let me know. Thanks!

I'm running my D2000s happily out of my iPod with no amp at 60-70% volume. No amplifier needed.

Do you have the D2000's already? how do they sound when plugged to the source?

Laptop and iPod

With apple portable media players, you can't really hook up an external DAC without something costing alot.
So you can get the Fiio E11 portable headphone amplifier and a Fiio L cable (The L cable connects to the LOD port of the apple product).
The Fiio E11 can work with both the Laptop and iPod.
It's easy to hook up an external DAC to laptops, I like the DAC Destroyer (USB DAC). sells on eBay for $50.
Fiio E11, Fiio L cable, DAC Destroyer, Total around $125

Fiio also sells external DACs, the D3 and D5, they sell for under $30.

Headroom's total bithead for around $150 is a good option as well.

The e7 isn't a DAC?

The E7 is both a DAC and headphone amplifier, the E7's DAC can be hooked to the laptop with USB (USB is digital (zero & ones)).
Portable media player usually do not come with a USB (digital) output, or even any kind of digital output and a DAC uses digital input.
