I called up J&R just now and they don't have the date for new shipments of 7000. For the price he said $899.. As for the 5000, he said $449.. I asked him if that's the lowest he could go he told me he can go $419.. Shoul I go for the 5000 instead or wait for 7000? Is $419 seems like a good price or should I go lower?
How about the sound quality? 5000 shouldn't be bad compare to 7000 right? or not?
Please help.. I'm not sure what to do at this point..

some of the members got 7000 for $600. That's 40% off from $1000.
So, for 5000, 40% off from $700 is $419..
5000 or 7000... can't sleep again tonight...

I would wait for d7000 unless.... you could mod the d5000.
If not, I would try headroom. I think they would give you some discount.

Have you searched?

There should be a good amount of topics on it.

amazon.com are selling D5000s for $425 with free shipping. I believe j&R has a $15 off on any order above $100 (president's day promo). so maybe you can convince him to do it at $410 shipped?

I was looking at $349..maybe that's too much to ask? perhaps $399?
I am currently searching all over the forum regarding 5000 and 7000..
More positive reviews on 7000 than 5000. Seems like people are comparing 5000 to 2000 a lot.. Still doing my research right now.. any advice appreciated..

$349 = you would need to be very very lucky to get it at that price.

$399 = maybe. depends on how good you are in bargaining and which customer rep you are speaking to

I would go for the D7000. The D5000 is a D2000 with wooden cups and better cable. The D7000 is both those things plus a better driver. For under $700, I would get the D7000, even if the D5000 was $399. I would like to mod it to a LA7000 in the future, so you get my point

not possible since lawton audio doesn't sell the cups. the most you can achieve is a MD7000

Yes go for the flagship as long as it won't cause the lady to faint. From the looks of it you got caught up in the head-fi upgraditis phenomenon that prevails here from time to time. If you get 5k, somewhere down the road you will hear the little critter voice in the back of your head that says "it can get better, it can get better..." and ponder back why you didn't go for the better one. Takes an exceptional willpower not to give in to that voice if you ask me.

They can recable it, do markl mod and you can have custom cups on it, making it a LA7000. Custom Cups For Sale

Haha I was confused. I thought they stopped selling them and you had to buy from somewhere else or something

I'd LOVE to own a LA7000 when I get rich someday

I still think buying used is the way to go. Usually half the price of new and it just means that they come to you burned in, which is a good thing anyway

This. Thats why I saved up and went straight for the 7000s even though the 5000s were screaming at me once I saved up enough.

Thank you for the very informative comments. I currently listening to my w3 playing newage musics from gagnon and barakatt.. Trying to sleep but I hear voices.. Buy it buy it.. Hahaha. I finally made up my mind thanks to everyone. I can pretty much can tell that if I get d5000, I will regret for sure why I didn't go for the 7000.. I've been reading up on 7000 and seems like 90% positive and 10% negative reviews.
