Could this be right? I see that Amazon.COM has this set of cans for $185 where every other place I look has them at around $300.

I am looking to upgrade to my first pair of real phones and would love this set, but I hadn't really looked too hard at them as I thought they were over my $200 budget.

Does anyone know if these require an amp? I will mostly be using these at the office plugged into my PC or Ipod shuffle.

Thanks for the heads-up, I just replaced a pair I regretted selling a month or so ago.

Btw, this work fine without an amp. They really come alive with a good amp though!

Yes it is, if you clicked the amazon link you would have seen the d2000 for 185

The poster just mistyped by saying AHD-2000 when it is AH-D2000 easy mistake , one would think that you would do all the letters before the hyphen, half tempted to get these but I have some other priorities before I would spend this much on headphones, source, new pc etc.

I just placed my order as well...hoping someone can confirm they work reasonably well without an amp.

Sound good out of an ipod to me.

I'm far from an expert, but from what I can tell, yes. "AH-D2000" is the formal model name/number when you look at the Denon website.
