I have a large mellon-like head and I wondered how much the new Denon's could stretch out?

I have Beyerdynamic DT-880's right now and, at maximum extension, the headband just fits over the top of my head. Not real bad, but the tightness over the top of my head gets a little annoying after a while.

Could anyone who has both 'phones and let me know if the Denon's are any larger?

I think the Denons were made for larger heads. I wear a 7 1/4" hat size and my D2000's are loose and I have them on their shortest setting. The headband is also very flexible and I think it's metal under the leather so very durable and I think it would have no issues stretching out reasonably.

Yeah, I actually had to get rid of mine because they were too big for my small head in their smallest setting. They were hanging just barely too low.

I've got a mellon head (about 8 1/4") and both the DT880 and D5000 fit me fine. I think on the DT880's I'm about 5 or 6 clicks up on each side so there is a lot of room to spare.

My head is large from front to back so that doesn't have any effect on my headphone fit.

From previous threads, it seems that the people who have the hardest time getting the DT880 to fit have tall heads (top to bottom), as opposed to wide (from side to side) or deep (front to back).

They maybe made for rich mellon heads

I have average size head (I think), normally Denons are on second click, when fully extended, the cans will fall below my ears. I'm sure they'll fit even the biggest melonheads around.

My head is a massive 26.5" in circumference above the eyebrows, implying a hat size of 8.5 or so.

Regardless, I wanted to try the Denon's anyway. I have the AH-D750's and 950's from back in the day. It will be interesting to compare. Much like the descriptions of the 2000/5000's, the 950's had an excess of bass. Very good for cranking up the volume.

Ordered the 5000's this morning.
