So, we can assume you own the HD598?
What sources are you plugging it into?

The HD598 is a little warmer-sounding than the HD600 so relative to the treble presence, I'm sure you'll have no problem with the amount of bass on them.

Depending on the genre of music you listen to, for example i own the 598's and listen to mostly electronic and hip hop. 598's are NOT the headphones for me. Even after bass boost from my amp, it was still lacking. But if you listen to classic or something then these cans are a beast.

Bassheads will certainly find the HD 598 to be lacking in bass.  It really depends on your listening preferences and what your ears are used to.

Yeah the DT 990 has boosted bass and boosted treble, and recessed mids.  I think you'd like the HD 650 with a decent amp.  The Philips Fidelio X2 is often recommended in place of the HD 600 and is said to be bassier.

Also consider the AKG K7XX/Q701 + bass mod/K712. The HD598 doesn't have the best of bass extension (same as the HD600), but the midbass is warm and punchy. For your genres, I'd go for something with a little better extension. Just IME :).

Will EQing help boost enough bass for HD598?
I am expecting bass at least as HD600.
(I've had HD600 before. So I am expecting similar sound.)

You might check out the Philips Fidelio (X1/X2) series, should offer more bass then the HD598.
